Hi Wayne

Thanks for following my journey on this epic figure. I'm proud to say he's now starting to look the way I hoped he would. There are still a thousand small details to add but I'm starting to fill in the blanks. Critically now that the uniform is painted I can get on to the chest rig and pouches.

Also, just for you, a shot of the AC/DC cd I'm listening to while painting this bloke. Rocking out.

Stunning Tony. Who says modern figures are dull!
True artistry.
Do you paint in oils? What colours do you use.
Many thanks.
Peter.

Hi Peter

Thanks for your comments mate. I paint in acrylics and then use oils to apply washes. The technique is called oils over acrylics. Typically I only paint flesh in oils paint. The other oils are applied in a series of dilute washes, using white spirits as the carrying medium.

These days I mainly use Josonja acrylics but I also use Matisse artists acrylics and Vallejo.

Hi guys

For the past three months I've been nibbling away at this big beastie- doing little bits here and there and slowly adding the thousands of little touches that help bring the figure to life and add character.

These Naked Army sculpts are 1/6th Scale, so you can see every little detail. You could keep painting it for ever but at some point you have to stop and call it finished.

I'm close to that point now. These pics are just with my iPhone so they don't capture all the details clearly, but hopefully you can see the work that's gone into it over the months.

Final pics.

Tomorrow I hand this figure over to the SAS Resources Trust where it will be put on display ahead of being auctioned in July to raise funds to support the widows and children of former members of the Regimrnt.

Thanks to Chris Roberts for his assistance and encouragement.

These photos were taken in my local park with my new digital camera and came out rather well.

Thanks to everyone who commented on and Liked this thread.
