I've just about finished the bust and am now working on the backdrop which will be part of a tree as in the film.
The bust was finished in oils over acrylics which is my approach to painting miniatures.
The bust was sculpted by carl Reid and is produced by Graham Scollick as CGS military Figures.

The tree was constructed from some scraps I found in the local park,i decided to sand off all the real bark and moss with my dremmil back to the bare wood,i then made branches from strands of twisted wire.
The trunk and branches were then coated in wood filla with some texture added to create the bark,i also have a sheet of etched brass leaves from scale link which will also be added to the branches once I've finished airbrushing the tree.
The tree frames the bust for me very nicely and will look much better once finished and painted.

I added some grime and dirt which was evident in the film on val kilmers coat.
A lovely piece to paint and a change from the norm, expertly sculpted by carl who has captured the pose just right, very well casted by graham as well.
Anyone interested in the wild west or movie character busts, then I highly recommend this bust.

Wow, Brian: another beautifully, yet subdued painting of the
famous iconic figure. BTW, I just watched the Jason Robards, Jr.
(oh gosh, I believe I'm not spelling his name correctly. I mean no
disrespect to such a fine actor) film of Tombstone recently. I will
be eager to see how you complete the tree. Have you ever made
leaves from painted white bond paper? Less expensive of course.

I liked this bust when it first came out,but after seeing your paint job, i think i'll give it a miss. You've made it your own Brian
