I’ve made a start on this 1/9 bust from Mick’s Mick’s of a Sergeant 6th Inniskilling Dragoon’s during the 2nd Boer War. If memory serves me right I think this was the first offering from Mick in this range ( I could be wrong) and it’s a super piece. There’s lots of detail in the sculpting by Offo and a cracking face to get stuck into with the brushes. So far I’ve done most of the face in oils, save for the eyes and hair/moustache and just started on the tunic in oils, which are still wet.

Thanks for looking,

Neal.

You are right, this was the first bust in the range.
Nice start to this one Neal, enjoy as it's a stunning piece. Love seeing your take on this.

Thanks Bob. I had a look back at yours and Mick’s threads on it as a point of reference and hopefully I’ll do it justice.

Hi Neal.
You and Bob are correct this was the first, and there are only a few left I only have one and Stu @ stormtroopers has a couple.
The face is great a nice sun burnt look, nice one will be following.
Will be following as always.
Mick.

Thanks for the comments Mick. Another top figure to work on.

Hi Neal

That's great colouring on the uniform , the rest looks good ...like the way you have done the seams

Arm badges look spot on as well

Following with interest

Thanks Nap. I went back at the highs on the tunic after the first set of pictures and it’s given it a more worn and coarser look I think, more by luck than good judgement I hasten to add. The castle sleeve badge has had just one coat of Darkstar Baroque over a black base but it gives off a look of something that’s had a wash or two of black applied so I might just give it a slight touch here and there with either the Darkstar Pewter or silver oil paint to pick out some highs.

Great looking painting Neal. The bandolier looks very good.
Thanks Bob, it’s really appreciated. The oil was still a little wet on the bandolier when I took the photos so it may well dull down a little but overall I’m pleased with how it’s coming along.

Getting towards the end with this one now. Helmet added and chin strap to finish in oils. Water bottle undercoated ready for oils and carbine added. A little bit of tidying up round the rank chevrons needed and I’ll be able to call it finished.
