This piece depicts a regular, due to he is wearing the 1914 pattern leather webbing.

Beatiful job Carl and I think it could be a Pal - I recently put some photos of Lancs Fusiliers on Great War Forum for ID and was told by the experts there that the leather equipment with snake clasp belt is very much indicative of a Salford Pals battalion. Perhaps its the 1914 that makes it regs? For me, representation of the piece as a Pals soldier makes the piece even more tragic and evocative. Good luck with it..

Great work again Carl and a fantastic story line.
Now take a break and have a good Christmas and another Great New Year.

Thanks Colin!

You are right he is a Birmingham Pal!

They started deploying Royal Warwickshire Regiment to the Western Front in August 1914 I believe. It seems the first to go was a combination of the TA and regulars, I'm lead to believe the TA wore the 1913 pattern webbing and kit, and the regulars, Known as "The Birmingham Pals"! wore the 1914 leather pattern webbing and kit.

Carl a stunning idea and excellent sculpting . What about if you gave the little lad a toy soldier to hold, that way you'd have a Bust , a full figure and a 28mm figure all in one package. (y) Brilliant
Have a great Christmas mate.
Cheers Ken

Cheers Ken!!

Can you imagine the Uproar if I did put a small toy soldier with it.... You would then have a bust with 3 heads, 4 legs and 6 arms... What a nightmare....!!!!:LOL::LOL:

Good point Carl,
you don't want to be doing that on the Hagley Road......someone will likely park their bicycle in it.
BTW Is the Duck still going strong?

Cheers,
Keith

Thanks Steve.
It was a great pub.
I miss-spent more than a few nights there when at the Joseph Lucas Hilver training house and Aston Uni :angelic:
Cheers Mate, have a great Christmas,
