From the sublime to the ridiculous! Not content with nicking my idea for a colour scheme, Brian then goes on to produce a potential BOS at Euro with his beautifully rendered version of this  So join me as I lurch to the inevitable disastrous conclusion of this comedy of errors. Early days yet but as always your comments, pointing out of why mine isn't quite as good as Brian's, who's what 85 now :sneaky: etc etc will be appreciated

I actually don't think that helmet looks too bad at all Steve, you're off to a decent enough start I reckon. But I know what you mean, the Brians of this world are very good at both inspiring and depressing us mere mortals with the quality of their work.

Ta Steve I've done the mail too but that needs more work and didn't photo well so will add that later

Cheers Rog and Carl, I usually judge my work against a 5 year olds so I feel good Rog, the metals are my first go with acrylics, mail isn't as nice as the helmet so might go back to enamel there

You've got to be pretty pleased with the start you've made on this.
The helmet is looking great. Take it nice and easy as you work on the face particularly around the eyes where Arabic skin tones can be pretty dark.
Looking forward to seeing this progress.(y)

I was just about to say that you're off to a good start Steve, but after being told i'm 85 years old,i had second thoughts.Remember my motto "i'm a 30 year old trapped in a 68 year old body, but the wife say's i'm like a 3 year old"
Kidding aside, the helmet's looking good Steve, and remember the primary reason for this crazy hobby of ours, enjoy it.

Cheers Ralph,Del and Brian, joking aside I am quite pleased with it, and as I'm sure you guessed it's all a bit tongue in cheek

As far as I can tell steve, you've nicked brian's and used a not as good camera so we can't tell mate.

I reckon you can turn his work round into summat decent,

Keep at it pal ;):)

Don't knock yourself Steve, that's not a bad start.
And there's loads of us who would like to paint like Brian.

I particularly like the way you've overlaid the black shadows with black highlights and then sorted the whole thing out with a delicate black glaze to emphasize the essential depth of the piece and thereby releasing your inner Banksy :). Or I might just be talking B***********. :)
Re Brian, you could always do a Nap and replace his can of matt varnish with a can of primer?:sneaky::sneaky::whistle:.
regards, Gary.
