Steel Panthers was a video strategy game that I got hooked on whilst recovering from a broken shoulder in 1999.
I would suggest another layer of oils. Use them fairly wet (don't leave on cardboard for too long) and then use a sponge to wipe off most of the oils, following the direction of hair growth a la Max Longhurst. I think this would give you a bit more depth without hiding what you have done already. And provided the previous coat is well cured, you can take the oils off if it all goes wrong.....What I am having problems with is the damn horse, just can't seem to get the depth of colour I want, so I'll keep plugging away at that. Any suggestions would be welcome.
Good progress on the figure and I think the saddlecloth looks great, really nice work on the glazing.

Yes, it was Max Longhurst back in the 70s/80s who popularized this approach. See here: https://ipmsusa.org/reviews2/fig-dio/books/compendium-publ/compendium_bld-pt-war-horse.htmNow you mention the sponge I recall using them in the dim and distant past.
Oh, it was good though.Ah that's not the Steel Panthers I meant, as this is a family friendly site I can't really go into details, enough to say apart from being funny and way OTT politically incorrect they are very good musicians.
Cheers Simon

Putting together a squadron of combined ops, commandos in Bren carriers, with Humber MkII escorts. Roving around Italy, busting up the Axis artillery in the rear.
And then there were the Australian Matilda Frogs in the jungle, who corralled the opposition, with infantry support, and predictable results.
Happy days...
