Lace has a yellow pattern - this is wool, not gold. Until 1814, pipes were plain yellow brass. The cord and tassels of the Major-Trumpeter's trumpet were of white wool, with an admixture of black and orange threads.Hi svt, thanks very much for this it is really helpful. I think I might revisit the lace and start from a red base and then overlay the pattern in gold. Can you assist further - are the trumpet cords gold or a mix of gold and red and is the trumpet brass or white metal?
