So I could have more than one painter's figure. This one was a little rough in casting even though well sculpted. I converted it a tad by adding a Historex head and changing the rank to reflect the coat. I also scratchbuilt a new kepi.

Thanks guys.

Gray, I thought the old head matched for a Lt., but not a Major General. In the end it was easier to make the change to Major General.

Roc, I use oils over Acrylics. Let me add that I hate painting yellow.

John,

This is a very nice conversion. I like the feel the new head gives to this officer.

I think the yellow sash looks great. What mixes did you use for it?

Very nice work! Very good job keeping the uniform colors right and flesh tones look very good also.

John,
Please refresh my memory. Was this figgie based on the Art Girona Cavalry Officer that Raul G. LaTorre sculpted for them? If so, I'm going to pick your brain in 3-days time as to which Historex head you used & how you went about making it more "historically" correct. I've got the figgie right here and am anxiously awaiting placing it on my workbench; however, I've heard from many sources that it needs lots of corrections. Perhaps I can talk about it with you over beers (the tab's on me, amigo!) this Thursday night in Chicago? Just say the word, you know I'm good for it ... or instead of beers perhaps margaritas or "blue meanies"
Your rendition looks simply awesome and I can't wait to see it in person in under 72 hours. Do take care, my friend!

P.S - do not play any ABBA on your car stereo during the drive to the show ;) (y)

Thanks guys.

Barry, The sash was a royal pain in the rear. I can't remember the final mix, it included white naples yellow, mars yellow, and cadmium yellow. It was shaded with mars violet. I don't think it worked that well to tell the truth. I have difficulty keeping things from turning muddy when painting yellow.

Pete, it is the very same. It's not that hard to rectify really. We'll talk.

Basil, I didn't notice that. I'll look it over.
