Nice resin pouring! You have no fear...... It looks like you are using a gas lighter to get rid of bubbles, correct? And what brand of resin are you using? The Pebeo Gedeo stuff seems recommended (although I am using the AK stuff but in much smaller quantities).

Nigel, I am indeed using a gas lighter against bubbles, but I’m also using a low viscosity resin that easily loses any bubbles, so there’s actually little need for the lighter. Persistent bubbles at edges I try to pop with a thin steel rod. It also helps to let the resin rest in the mixing cup for 20 min before pouring.

The epoxy resin I use is from a Dutch brand called MrBoat. Very happy with the quality. Not sure if they ship internationally though.

Hope to do the first of two big layers this weekend.

Simon, the container is made of perspex (plexiglas). This doesn’t stick to the epoxy and gives a very smooth cast.

So far, so good! First 5 cm layer is firming up nicely.

Whales and figure are now fixed in position. After hardening their supports can be removed, their attachments repaired and painted and the last layer poured. Hope to do that this weekend.
