Here is the subject I will be using for my new dvd on painting black, white and leather and metallics techniques. Its currently in production and should be ready for publication in April.

Early days on the face, as you can see the hair is blocked in and awaiting shading and toning. Hope you like, more at www.hardytempest.moonfruit.com

Hi the flesh mix is

Undercoat (Acrylic) Yellow Ochre + Yellow
Basecoat (Oils) Equal amounts of Venetian Red + Cadmium Yellow + Ochre
First Highlight (Oils) Basecoat + Naples Yellow + Titanium
Shadow (oils) Venetian Red
Deep Shadow (oils) Venetian Red + Lamp black.

The base coat is exactly the same as what I use on smaller figures.
Hope this helps. Hardy

thanks a lot!!!:D

but i have a problem because when i start adding shadows with venetian red, tone gets to be violet or purple??

best regards

Hi, you could try a half and half mix of burnt sienna and venetian red. Might help. Hardy

Thankyou Ilija. I will let you know when its ready. There will also be a link to the production company on my website when it is available. Hardy

Hardy, fantastic work so far on the flesh tones. Is this the Teutonic Knight bust with a beard added? Nice touch, btw. I do have to point out one thing that caught my eye (no pun intended! :p ) I think the pupils in the eyes look a bit too small. I try for about 1/3 of the over-all eye to be taken up with the pupil and these look just a tad too small. Don't mean to steal any thunder on the DVD and all but thought it merited mentioning. I attached a pic to see what you thought. Ignore me if you aren't done with them yet. Keep us posted, anxious to see this one come together!

Thanks all.

Jay, you are so right about those I eyes. I have just been discussing it on another forum and your pictures have convinced me to re-work them. Thanks. Hardy
