Hi everyone

As I am currently prepping this up thought I would start the SBS off

It is of course Paul Rollet .....a very much revered officer and very brave and very decorated , he is buried at the Legions headquarters

Given the title " Father of the Legion " , he served a total of 41 years an amazing record

The bust comes from Atelier and needless to say as I rather like painting medals ...seemed only right it shoukd appear on the bench ...

Prep is very minimal and I will paint the head separate and join later

Here's some reference pics I will be using during this build including a generals kepi ,Aiguillette

Awards in next post !

Happy benchtime

Currently the resin is unprimed comes in 2 pieces , head and torso

A mass of details as you can see here

Prep ....Removed the small excess resin from underneath the torso and the neck and rebuilt the top of the kepi here image.jpeg

I might join the aguilette up ?

I contacted Pierre a fountain of knowledge and asked his advice on the bust as I had doubts about the beard ......he said he thought it needed to be fuller and a little more shaped as in pictures ....almost like side whiskers are less prominant ...so looking at it

I removed a section of the beard and rebuilt its shape with magisculpt ...since taking the last picture I have added a tiny bit more

image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg

Now going to get the torso based up and start thinking about the project ....along with a few more!

I like to see other modellers versions as well

The first by serge Dintroz and the other by Yvan Patricia (WIP)

Both pictures from FB page

Box artwork by Stu Odel

Another one of my long-time heroes comes to life (y) Great stuff, Kev, the beard looks much better after your tender care. Good luck with the decorations!
A lovely tribute.

Alan

Thanks Alan ...it's a great subject and as I said well sculpted, appreciate the beard comments

Happy benchtime

Great job on this bust, Nap.... :) :).

Only a comment..... the Spanish Military Medal Grand Cross sculpted on the bust is not correct. The cross sculpted is the used during General Franco's period (1936-1975), with lions and castles between the cross. This award was conceded to Rollet in 1920 and must be with royal crown and lises flowers instead lions and castles like the photo attached as info.
