Making a box for sanding and routing.

Great idea Janne, looks like it works great. To minimise my use of the motor tool when removing excess resin or MagicSculp/Apoxie Sculpt I now use chisels or gouges to take off the bulk of it; works great although it does take longer than using a cutter head in the drill. Einion

    Primer

Any decent automotive or household primer in a spraycan should be similar Kurt, and for a big saving in $$. Lots of modellers today use one of the RustOleum primers, many from the Painter's Touch range. Einion

Duke of Vendôme, Spanish Succession War

Not my cup of tea but looks nicely sculpted. I'd like to see it unpainted and from multiple angles to get a proper look though. Einion

    News Art-Girona

Not Raúl at top form, proportions seem off and the sculpting of the fabrics seems a bit lacking, but I think the painting isn't showing it off to the best advantage. And the headgear certainly seems to be perching a bit to my eyes, I don't know if that's representative of the way they were. Einion

    News Art Girona

Ave! Subject is overdone but at least it's not just a standing pose and the classic Laruccia workmanship makes it a bit more special than many. Einion

    News Art Girona

The "Hospitaller knight" is a tired old cliché in the hobby but of course this can be painted to be anything else the modeller desires if they like the pose and sculpting. I think the mail texture is a reasonably good representation, much better than the clear (but overscale and exaggerated)...

    Black Watch Highlander, Waterloo 1815 - 54

That's looking good. Love the shouty face. Since you asked for feedback the creasing on the kilt is excellently done but I'm not sure if it accurately represents the 'hang' of the fabric. And the area just above the ankles is maybe a touch thick. Einion

The Life Miniatures Bust - Stalingrad

Beautiful sculpting. Not sure I like the overall bust but it's a fab bit of work. Einion

    Building.

Thanks for that Carl, great to have it in another form to refer to. Not that I'm bothered personally given the way the mag is run but this actually breaks the rules for publication in Mil Mod. Einion

    WIP Critique Boromir, 1:6

Nice job for a first attempt at sculpting :thumb: You set yourself a tough one as a first subject - a wide smile like this is something that seasoned sculptors regularly avoid, hence the dearth of them in commercially-available figures and head sets! I'm not going to comment on the likeness...

Gloss, Satin (semi gloss) & Matt with Acrylics

It can, but actually it would often indicate that too much was used. It would certainly not be the way to achieve a sheen if that's what someone were looking for, far better to either use paints that naturally dry to a given sheen (my preference where possible) or use an overcoat of some kind...

    help with copper cuirass

Who cares what anyone else thinks? It's your model, you can use whatever you like. I've intended to try burnished foil on a simple helmet style (maybe a salet) for a few years now, just haven't gotten around to it yet. People in the past have looked down their noses at the use of an airbrush...

WIP Critique Leonidas - Scale 75

That's coming along nicely Fabricio. The one thing I would say though is that the yellow metals look to be the colour of brass, not bronze. Einion

    help with copper cuirass

In that case I think the best effect would be achieved with either a buffable metallic paint, e.g. Metalcote, or Alclad II. Paint the entire cuirass as polished steel, mask the edges and then glaze to get the copper colour. W&N make an ink that's awesome for this (I think it's a chestnut...

    Acrylics Black Undercoat

Hycote is even cheaper. Quality is similar/the same (Hycote are supposed to be the makers of the stuff for Halfords). Which AB and compressor are you thinking of Steve? Because you can do a mite better than this... ;) Well you could pay that much; a 500-quid compressor would be a good start...

    Advice. V. Enthusiasm.

Not sure that advice versus enthusiasm is the right way to put it but you make some good points Richard. I see what you're saying but there is a lot to recommend forcing yourself to finish if necessary, because not finishing stuff can definitely become a habit. While you don't want to be...

    Perry Miniatures

I was wondering how their work would translate to a larger scale; better than I was expecting. It's hard to properly assess the work in these small pics but the legs may be a bit chunky and the creasing on the sleeve of the raised arm appears a bit confused, but overall it looks great. Einion

Fab work as usual. Not a fan of the character but your work on it is top notch :thumb: Einion
