Hi all, after a busy summer doing other stuff I decided it was time for another figure project. Actually I've got about 4 that I'm going to start in the next week or so but I'll probably make another thread for the others as I'll be doing a fair amount of sculpting.

My 3D printer has been fighting me for a while and then over the summer I sold some bits and decided I could afford an upgrade. Naturally I've then gone one a printing spree including finding these figures on Cults3D. I'm no expert on US WW2 stuff so I'm not really qualified to comment on the accuracy but they were £3 for the pair and I like the poses so I've printed them in 1/16 and intend to paint them up and fit them into a Carentan themed vignette.

The other is a sort of sci-fi/cyber punk female bust that I'd like to paint but I've honestly got no idea where to start with that sort of thing. As most of my previous stuff has been historical I find I struggle with more imaginative subjects.

Welcome back then, the printed Americans look fine really nicely proportioned etc.

If you struggle for ideas for fantasy/Sci fi types then have a gander at Putty and Paint, lot of top quality stuff on there.

Cheers Simon

Look forward to seeing more on the US one and the fantasy as well ( you can let your imagination go wild )

Following with interest

Ask and you shall receive! Apologies for the dodgy phone pics. Lots of tweaking needed but the colour scheme is really satisfying to paint up. My main point for the future would be to block in all the colours first because something about the ochre makes it hard to work out where highlights and shadows go until you've got some other tones to break it up.

The figures are pretty nice with lots of folds etc in the uniform which helps when painting, the webbing kit and uniforms are not quite right but this is one of those 'bit of fun' projects so I'm not massively fussed. The poses work really well, enough to forgive other flaws.

You've painted them up really very nicely mate, really good brush work, going to enjoy watching you progress.

Cheers Simon

Sign of the future Stefan - print & paint up at home.
Going to be fascinated to see how this comes together.
Figures do look good to begin with, here to learn more.

I got a bit distracted by my two British projects but I’m back to making progress on these chaps. I need to finish the helmets and add grain/metal to the weapons, otherwise I think the figures are done until I can fix them in place. Then I’ll probably use pigments to tie them in with the base.

They look really very good, a nice wood grain will raise the bar and coupled with the base they're going to be ace.

Cheers Simon

Thanks chaps, I'm just waiting to grab some sand to fill the gaps in the bricks and the base will be done and I can start putting these guys in position.
