DF Grieve 65mm Cameron Highlander, painted in oils over acrylics. This is a bit of a trial piece, as I'm trying to get used to using a new magnifyer that I bought and it's a bit tricky at the moment as the perspective seems to be a little distorted - the brush looks twice as big as the part I'm painting!! LOL. I'll get used to it I guess.

Dave-

Ahh... the dicing and tartan! Very nice. You'll get used the magnifier, too.

Keith

Nicely done! Optivisors are tough at first but really aid in the "fine details" later on!

Thanks guys. I don't have the optivisor, I bought a magnifyer on a stand that has a 10" x 8" size lens, I can use it with plenty of space to paint without the edges of the frame getting in the way.

How long did you paint that figure?

To paint that thin lines you sould use acrylics. ;) You can paint on oil base. 65 mm?? It's too big for me. To big about eleven milimeters :p

Keep going... when we should expected next, more detailed figure?

Cheers
Martin

Marcin,
It took two weeks, mainly at weekends, to paint this one - about average for me depending on the demands of my family!.

I'll take your advice on painting the lines in acrylic, but I have found before that acrylics don't always want to adhere properly over oils.

Next (if it works!) is a major conversion including some sculpting. If it comes out OK it'll be seen here first!

Fantastic figure!!
I think that this is one of most beautifull figure ever made for a production!!!
(Grieve is the Eistain of the figures) simply perfect!!
Good work My friend (y)

ciao Stefano

Thanks Stefano,

I reckon D F Grieve is the master of this kind of figure, they make great peices for a painter. I'm pleased that you like my work.

This warms my Scottish blood, Dave!

Awesome job. I particularly like the tartan - amazing detail there!

Nice work,

Kyle

Thanks guys,

Kyle, the tartan here is as close as I can get to Cameron of Erracht - still trying to work out why I put myself through this every time I fancy painting a jock!

Dave, nice job, those tartans are very difficult to paint, I always have problems with them.
Keep on trying , have fun and never get discouraged. ;)

Cheers
Roc. :)
