Etatsmässige Wachtmeister 3rd Kűrassier Regiment 1900

Heck of a mouthful of title, with the very little German I still remember the pronunciation is a wee bit beyond me.

Anyhow, as normal the fella started as a plastic dolly figure from some 1/35th plastic figure manufacturer, all detail stripped away with a dremel and a Hornet head stuck on top. Everything else is built from Magicsculpt and the odd bit of post it note paper. Painted entirely in acrylics.

That's turned out really well and looks quite striking. I love the pipe, that just gives a nice bit of character to the piece. Considering it had some challenges along the way, IMO you should be very pleased with how it turned out.

Many thanks Nigel, yes indeed I am rather pleased with it, also pleased the pattern on the pipe can still be seen, he'll be off to gather dust in the cabinet soon as I crack on with something else.

Many thanks Melanie, he's not bad too bad for a wee little fella, when it comes to painting these figures I realise some of the sculpted detail is not as fine as I thought it was when sculpting. Case in point is the piping on the jacket and hat, always room for improvement just as it's meant to be.

Mario, many thanks my friend, to be fair I don't know a great deal more about the non British Armies of the era. I will research enough to know what I need. Trouble is I then forget most of what I have learnt, if the figure looks good then that is good enough for me. Looking forward to seeing your American para when it's ready.

struggling a lot ,it's a 101ste airborne but the parachute I see in 5 different colors it's a T5,what must I do then hé, I gonna take one of them and it must be correct,
I find pictures I have taken in Normandy in the"Airborne museum" so they must be good,all of them,one thing I learn already,bigger figures are not always better ore easy to paint,absolute not,it's the first time
I do this so , but im must get there,I don't give up

Good to hear my friend, never give up. Even in the 80's and 90's I noticed not all the parachutes we used had the same colours on their bags. I guess some fade, some are old and some new or even made from a different shade of canvas. A lot of times it is a wasted effort to worry too much about exact colours, I use the rule, "if it looks right it probably is right".

As for bigger figures, not for me there is too much to paint, nothing bigger than 75mm for me. If it is frustrating then take a break and go back to it after christmas and hopefully it will be easier.
