I already made a start on this fella while painting the Garde Mobile figure. Again he is 1/35th scale so pretty diminutive and built on a plastic dolly figure created from a Dragon/Masterbox etc plastic figure with a Hornet head plonked on top. I also utilise the kit hands because I am really crap at sculpting hands. So progress so far purely in picture form.

I have been at the bench this morning as well.

Very nice start! And he's looking less like Captain Scarlet now (which was what the initial pictures brought to mind.....;):))

Chuckle chuckle, I reckon the best bet for Capt Scarlett will be TFB in their new range, would be a trip down memory lane though.

Hi Simon

Great to see this Figure being worked on , looking good so far

Going to be a nice figure

Seeing the full pics really shows the work your doing , your finished pieces highlight the small scale and the work pays off

Less wonky pics now

What references are you using ?

Looking forward to seeing more

Happy benchtime

Kev, Malc & Steve, thank you gents I want if I can to improve the sculpting, painting commercial figures has caused me to want to push a bit. The reference is the Almark Cuirassiers and Heavy Cavalry by the great Mr DSV Fosten, a wonderful book for all thing heavy, German and old. Having said I want to improve I have today only gone and broken one of his legs, right through the knee boot, D'Ho!.

Cheers Simon

that is something I can't ,but it's nice to See how you sculpted things and then painting
it's gonna be a lovely peace ,keep it up (y)

Cheers Mario, they come out OK most of the time but painting professionally sculpted figures is far easier.

Got a bit carried away, should have been in bed hours ago, don't want to waste the Magicsculpt I mixed.

Added some detail to the fellas hat, his collar on the left side and his cuff. I am going to have to make the right arm detachable if I want to stand any chance of painting his tunic or Koller lace, I also.need to sculpt a pipe for his right hand.

My very own Tasmainian Devil is having a sleep.over here tomorrow, plus I have her all day, so no bench time tomorrow.

Cheers Simon

I grab as much as I can, she is asleep now but hr usual wake up is about 0430hrs and she doesn't stop till bed time. Somewhere in the back of my head is a vague memory of being able to do that, though it is alcohol obscured!

You are making nice progress here Simon, this will be another nice unique piece to add to your collection. It's really interesting to see how you build these figures up.

It's all been trial and error going back many years, still room for improvement. Thanks for your kind comments.

Great progress on this fellow Simon, you seem to be getting quicker as well as better at this sculpting thing,

Cheers Rob that's nice to hear, practice makes perfect, so a long way to go still. I started this fella while still painting the last figure, to fill in the gaps between painting sessions etc.

My time is not my own today which is a pain, but make do with what I have. The figures right arm needs to be separate in the pose I want if I am going to be able to paint the koller front lace properly. I have the armature for the arm in place but need to ensure it does not adhere to the torso, to facilitate this I have a small shim of plasticard as a separator. The paper clip wire is the pin that will locate the arm in place. However the arm needs to stand proud of the body, to keep it in place I have added an additional smaller pin with corresponding hole above the paperclip wire.

These pictures have highlighted how much I need to clean up the hat visor etc! It didn't look that bad in 1 to 1 scale.

So now I can start fleshing the right sleeve out.

Cheers Simon

Wow this is amazing. Can't wait to see the finished sculpture.

I'd love to get into sculpting someday but I'll never be this good.

BTW something I find interesting: why is the brim of the cap pink? Is it some kind of special putty that holds the shape/ holds its own weight better?
