I initially bought this bust as a possible replacement head for a 1/16 full para figure I was working on. It didn't fit of course, so it went into the stash for a rainy day. It being a very rainy day indeed, I thought I'd dig it out and give it a go.

Though I do paint figures in this scale, I'm not a great fan of busts this small, mainly because I find they tire my crummy eyes very quickly - the face of a 1/16 full figure doesn't need to be as detailed when you have a uniform and equipment to divide attention, but with a bust it does seem to matter.

So:

Really tough going, and it needs more work, but I think the face is safe from the Dettol (I'm not doing it again anyway). It doesn't help having Jaume Ortiz's superb box art staring at you in admonishment either.

Hi Peter

Agree with Steves comment ref Box art

Despite not being your chosen size for a bust , you've done a nice job so far

Like the fleshwork and the beret colour

Look forward to seeing more on this little fellow

Happy benchtime

Nap

like'n it so far Peter :)

I know what you mean about box art intimidating you. I've been working on a bust for the last few days (Don't tell Nap ;)) The box art photo's I've got are stunning and I even made the mistake of printing them out at a larger size - I plan to show photographs of mine from the doorway of the workroom :ROFLMAO:

Looking forward to seeing this finished
Cheers
Paul

Thanks very much for taking the time to comment people - much appreciated.

The old box art dilemma eh? Usually very intimidating and I try to ignore it as much as possible except for colour references etc, otherwise I'd never get anything started.

That is absolutely tolerable work Peter. ;-)

Seriously, great looking face.
Perhaps a bit more midtones to push back the shadows under cheeks ever so slightly, but even as it it is, already better than some boxart.

Cheers Adrian.

Yes, I take your point and will lighten the shadows under the cheekbones a bit. Thanks for looking in.

Facial colours looking good so far Peter. Once the Denison is painted it may well change the tone of the face a bit.
