A Fixture
Here is another picture I found taken from the chronicles of Fallschirmjägerregt 3 written by veterans of the regiment. Sorry for the crappy scan (did not want to damage my book) but it shows an interesting mix of footwear worn by soldiers after seeing action in the Newa sector of the Russian front in 1941. I can assure that most of the pictures taken in that sector proove that normal footwear that can be identified is jackboots or marching boots but no jumpboots!
IMHO historical research is a part of the hobby that might imply the risk of becoming a nitpicker but can be helpful while working on a figure if your goal is to make your project as realistic as possible. If "comments are welcome" in a WIP-thread a comment questioning the correctness of the equipment might not be meant as a major assault - even if the raised correctness-concern turns out to be wrong - but can still be seen as an attempt to support your work. - Just my two cents.
