Home Guard/LDV question

I just picked up this kit http://www.modelcellar.com/num 2.jpg and I was wondering if it could be used for Home Guard/LDV during "the Blitz"? My big concern is (are) the legs below the knees. I would probably change at least one of the rifles and I don't mind changing the heads (one or both), but having to to re-sculpt the legs even on a resin figure would be a deal breaker.

Then you are out of luck. Gaiters optional, maybe, but long pants for sure. Here's something you might try, though. Simply build a regular pant leg over a puttee on one leg with Sculpey, and see how it goes. Show it to us, and we'll tell you how great it looks, and you can strip off the Sculpey and rebuild with Epoxy.
I am among the steadily decreasing number of folks who spent the war in an evacuated area (St Leonard's on Sea, Sussex, in my case), where the Home Guard was our first and last line of defense, so I wish you all the best on this project.

Well it was a shot as I have a plate with a tommy Circa 1940 wearing puttes. Trousers I might be able to do or just keep the pair as WWI figures. Thanks much

You'd need to change the service dress tunic too to a battledress serge or denim blouse. Frankly I think it'd be much easier for you to get a WW2 figure and build the 1908 webbing or 1939 leather equipment onto that.

Thank you for the input, I have already decided to paint these figures up as is when I get around to them. WWI is more my period of interest anyway.

Ah yes, sorry. I didn't realise how old the thread was. I got confused because the date is shown on the forum in American style, which is opposite to the way I'm used to.

I have that problem too and I am an American ( I have been writing the date the "European style" since middleschool).
