I've decided to work on this in stages, as its quite a heavy lump, and with my dodgy hands, I'd end up dropping it.
The top section of the surcoat was given a basecoat of Scale75 Petroleum Grey, at this stage I just added a basic highlight, with the
addition of a flesh tone. This will help give a dusty appearance.
Further detail will be added as I progress.

As you say ..

It’s looking good Malc , credit to you for painting the full face

Nice work on the helmet as well and start on clothing

Looking forward to seeing more

Happy benchtime

Nap

Cheers Nap, the helmet still requires more weathering.
Fingers crossed I can get to the bench tomorrow.

Good progress. I like the way you are doing the surcoat, it looks like a very effective technique.

Coming along well mate, nice play of light across the surcoat.

Cheers Simon

Thanks Simon, to be honest I think the play of light is down to the fine sculpting of the folds and creases, saying that I'm pleased with the effect, lets hope I can carry that through the rest of the figure.

Looking really good so far Malc. I love the effect you've achieved on the helmet.

That Death Head Hussar sounds good.

Cheers Steve.
I initially burnished the helmet, before applying a coat of graphite paste, and buffing up with a cotton bud.
The weathering was finished off by stippling on, Sepia and Burnt Umber oils.

Malc

Good tip Malc. I don't paint metal figures so much these days but I'll file that one way for reference because I have this figure in the stash along with a couple of other metal Crusaders/knights that I can still see myself having a go at at some point.

You'll certainly enjoy this one when you get around to it.
A real classic.
