After melting my previous bust of Lannes, which I felt was the best thing I had ever done, I decided to stop mourning and try another. It's damn hard to resculpt a piece with its ancestor sitting on your desk looking disapproving. But I got him done. There are elements of the new one I like better but I think I like him slightly less than the original. Oh well....at least I now have something to paint. No wax in the oils this time out!

Blimey, you were quick out of the blocks Colin.
That really looks superb. The details are so crisp.
Very, very well done.

Cheers,
Andrew

Great that you got back into the saddle, agree with Mark I prefer face number two. Look forward to watching this one to fruition .

Hi Colin,
Glad to see that you have moved foward, and with the looks it's only been a minor blip on the radar. Looking fantastic, I always think somethings happen for a reason, maybe the former was a warm up for the main event.
Chris.

Great "restart" Colin, one nitpicking note however: the baldrick seems a trifle small, but that may be my eyesight failing!
Cheers,
Piet

Thanks gents. I like the face too but it is not as close a likeness to the historical subject as the first one. Nor does the model have the same overall attitude that made me happy with my first effort.

And yes Piet the baldrick is slightly too narrow so I shall have to redo it. I had noticed that as well. There are other flaws but I won't advertize them at this stage.

Every bit as good as the first one Colin, maybe even a slight improvement.
