I can see where this all leads to: Initially, you were happily scratchbuilding your amazing little men, but now you've fallen under Nap's "busty" spell, and before you know it, you'll be adding oodles of medals onto all your big boys - forever lost to small scales... Wake up, before it's too late!!!

Someone, who means you well

Thank you Doctor! This is but a dalliance because I was really taken when this was released, look at it as alternative therapy for a troubled mind.

Don't despair though I am well underway making a Spanish Hussar and an Italian Cavalry Officer in 1/35th and trying my had at making a bit larger figure, about Historex size. Not got far with this as I am attempting to sculpt the head, my efforts in 1/35th were not good so hopefully I have gained some experience from that.

Cheers Simon

Nice work on the face, its quite a jump going from a small scale to a bust, and you've nailed it.

Cheers Malc, yes a big jump especially from 1/35th but I am hoping it will give me a better understanding of faces and colouration. I do like this bust though and I'm determined to finish this one.

Great work so far mate. The eyes are top drawer. The double catch lights are so effective.

You have a bit of back and forth with the flesh yet but it's coming together nice.
Love African shadow. A really nice tone.

The straightjacket in the last wip shot is an interesting choice mate. But yeah whatever. Works for me! . :p

Hi Rocco, thanks and I did a bit of digging around and found the holder I use at Greenstuff World

https://www.greenstuffworld.com/en/miniature-holders/331-work-holder-on-stand.html

That should have been a hyperlink, maybe it will come up when I post. They a blooming useful bits of kit, I don't use it that often but it's perfect when I do.

Cheers Simon

That does look pretty nifty. Wee bit nippy in price but too. But does look a solid pice if kit.
That's a few things I want from Gws. Maybe put an order in direct from them. I think you save a few bob.
Cheers!

Oooh man!
So you jumped over the fence, into bigthingsland!:D
Be careful, my friend, I heard weird stories about that Place ...
Nevertheless ... So many tiny details ...:woot:
Have fun, Simon, and hope to see soon next step!

Hi Simon

WELL DONE mate , coming along nicely , personally I would take the dark areas under the eyes back a touch ....but he could be really tired after many a night in the mess ...lol

Nice work on the eyes themselves

Look forward to seeing more on this .....I’ve got my one out , looking at a conversion

Have fun @ the bench

Rocco, Eppi and Kev. Many thanks gents, going to take a day off as I'm being Granddaughtered today, hopefully pull the face together tomorrow.

Cheers Simon

Mel, Nigel & Steve, many thanks for your support, hoping to get back to the bench tonight once I've recovered from a day of kids TV and made up games!

Cheers Simon

Not sure I can do very much more to the face without ruining it, he has what was once upon a time call a 'healthy tan'. The lighting on the picture isn't brilliant even trying to balance it with filters, but I'm happy with it, no doubt there are still things that could be done but I am now at the limit of knowing how to proceed.

Going to concentrate on the shirt collar and chin strap for a while, so if I have made a glaring error you bust officionados can see please let me know.

Cheers Simon

You won't really see the final colour tone until you get the base colours of the helmet and tunic laid in. He looks good though.

Maybe break up the join line between the top of his 'tash and the skin below his nose.
