Hey Paul

you've got me in trouble - or you will have soon. The build got me fired to order the last bits for a pet project which I concieved many years ago - just sent a £100 order for Historex bits and bobs... hope I can make an intercept on this one.

Cheers

Updating this with piccies on Wednesday evening

Paul.
Yeah, tell us what your up to Huw.... inquiring minds wanna know.
$250 worth of bits and bobs is a hell of a lot of bits and bobs lol Must be a big ass project :sneaky:

Hello my dear fellow members of a mindless rabble caused by too many adhesive fumes over the years...

My pet project is a history of the French Heavy Cavalry 1792-1815. I've researched it since I got the Bucquoy book "Les Cuirassiers" (to clarify it for Paul the deranged one - that's "Les" as in the French plural article not lesbian - so it's not porn Paul) when I was 15 for a Christmas present as I already had an interest in the subject due ot the Osprey book on Cuirassiers and Carabiniers. Anyway over the years I collected more books and started planning and gettign parts together. The story will consist of 71 single figures and some vignettes (about 5 - in idea stage only). Surrounding this will be some larger figures and the superb CGS Cuirassier busts and possibly I will get the busts from Bonaparte's too. The parts are to complete gatehring the bits for the 71 figures. So if you think Paul's a nutter I think he's the sanest man on the planet - after me. I'd better confess I've a fetish for Tiger Tanks and German 8 wheeled armoured cars - I've 18 and 8 respectively...

Cheers

I have been waiting and have now missed both tea and supper .......reedy posh 'ere see !

Huw .......I would pack a small carrier bag ..you and Paul might be in a room with padded walls .........

.....how many figures do you on average paint in 12 months Huw ?

Bring it on guys

Nap

Not enough - I've actually got enough to keep me going for the rest of my life... I've actually worked out the number of figures and AFVs I must complete each year over 25 years... and it scares me.

Cheers

Huw

Hi all, update as promised although delayed due to a good drink and a football match.

The Berline is now at an advanced stage.
I began painting this in Vallejo german camouflage brown black and then successive coats of chocolate brown from 'Games' miniature paints, a local brand of acrylic paint I have used for years.
the black leather panels and fittings all painted with Vallejo air black, (about 3 layers).

The outer edge of each wheel spoke , the inner edge of the outside of each wheel is painted in old gold as are the framing edges of the windows and so on, these are unfinished as yet and all the brass hardware; ie coach lamps and handles etc are still to be added.
At this stage I have mocked up the assembly with the door open.
The coach body is actually suspended from the curved springs and will only be secured at the last moment.
The horses have been thickened with a filled insert and after a rough sanding ccoated and painted with liquid sprue so that with a final sanding they appear solid.
each horse will have seperate scratchbuilt harnessing added because they are Post harnessedband ould hve been used as mail carriers or draught horse.
so I have scraped away the nose band and the halter strap that t
runs along the cheeks of each head.
I hope you can see some progress.

Hi Paul.

You can put it down to old age dodgy eye site or to much sun & sol y sombra. But yours truly is a little confused. Are those 4 dobbins shown above for the carriage or the gun team, as I can only see one in the picture for the carriage.

Confused El mick
