Hi Malc,

The figure looks fantastic, and I love the base you made.

Especially the flower/plants behind the fence. Where did you get those or did you make them yourself?

Cheers
Vincent

Hi Vincent.

This is what I have used behind the fence and was given to me by a friend. He'd got it from a florist, I'm going to see if I can obtain
some more from my local florist.

The tufts in front of the fence, come from a range by Mini Natur, there are various sizes and shades to represent which season you want.
I purchase them from El Greco miniatures.

Hope that helps.

A little more work this morning, at this stage I've concentrated on blocking out the shirt and blanket roll.
I've also done some additional work to the flesh tones, as well as the belt and sash so I can get the arms cemented in to position.

On the photos, I've just placed the head in position, I'll secure it in place once I've finished the blanket roll.

Good progress. The face is looking even better now you have added some uniform colours. I always find you can never tell if the face is quite right until you have more of the figure painted in.....

Very good work my good friend!!! I like the base and the progress you make on the figure!!!
noon,

Thank you ,I appreciate the feedback.

I managed to spend a little time at the bench this after, one thing I wanted to rectify was one of his eyebrows, I wasn't happy with it, and to be honest
its one thing I hate painting, although I'm pleased to say it looks much better now.
I've also made a start on highlighting the shirt and the blanket roll.
Unfortunately I didn't have time to take any photos, fingers crossed I'll be able to provide and update on Wednesday,
as its Grandad duty for me tomorrow.

Following my day on Grandad duty yesterday, it was nice to return to my bench to do some more work on the figure, and of course
listen to more Sabaton. :D

Before I got the paint out I flicked through one of my ACW books Echoes of Glory and found some information on the Rhode Island regt.
The regiment was founded and commanded by Col. Ambrose E. Burnside, a former tailor who organised the Uniform.
One point for those of you who are going to paint the figure is to note that the blanket roll was Scarlet, +making it very distinctive to this regiment.

I got some of the initial shadow and highlight tones down, and will add more detail as I progress.

This is really taking shape now, the tunic/smock is going to be great once the highlights and shade are finalised and yes the scarlet blanket will make it very striking.

Cheers Simon
