It does a bit

Mick contacted me as he’s following this , if it was Scots Guards ...the rosette on top would need removing ........not happening as it’s a lovely detail ....so this will be a officer of The Royal Scots , apart from the hat the difference is a green backing behind the thistle in the badge centre , timeframe Post 1881

Details from Mick ...most appreciated

The Royal Scots (The Royal Regiment), once known as the Royal Regiment of Foot, was the oldest and most senior infantry regiment of the line of the British Army, having been raised in 1633 during the reign of Charles I.

The regiment existed continuously until 2006, when it amalgamated with the King's Own Scottish Borderers to become the Royal Scots Borderers, which merged with the Royal Highland Fusiliers (Princess Margaret's Own Glasgow and Ayrshire Regiment), the Black Watch, the Highlanders (Seaforth, Gordons and Camerons) and the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders to form the Royal Regiment of Scotland.

Nickname "Pontius Pilate's Bodyguard"

Basecoating is coming on well ......will tidy up around eyes so you can come out from behind the sofa!

Thanks for looking in

Yeah better a line regiment than Guards regiments, the Royal Scots as you say were the senior line regiment in the army until our government started dismantling the armed forces. Looking forward to how yours turns out, it really is a beautiful bust to paint.

Hi everyone

This is now all ready to wait in line for painting ...after Kozehedub is complete !

Just lined in the dicing , obviously this will be a lot wider ! ......the lining is just to get a initial position right , I will buildup the red areas to correct size and then do the centre line where it crosses in the blue ....if that makes sense !

Click on pic for larger image if you wish

Thanks for looking in

Happy Benchtime

See now this is what is so good and so frustrating about the British Army. This is clearly a patrol jacket may be slightly early version that has a different fastening system and a stand and fall collar as opposed to a stiff one. I haven't seen this pattern before, or at least not noticed it and if it is mentioned in Dress Regulations it will helpfully be described as 'Of Regimental Pattern'. But yeah great facial hair, might have to change my beard to match!
