Final highlights have been applied using a mix of Vallejo Vermillion and German Orange, The orange being added to try and give a sun bleached look to the jacket.

Now apart from the Buttons and regimental facings the jacket is pretty much finished my research and the colour plates shown below from British Napoleonic Uniforms by C.E Franklin, the jacket had no other trim on it apart from the yellow facing

My first attempt at achieving a good tone on the Yellow regimental facings did not work in fact it ...............down right failed so i have started again by re-base coating the areas using Vallejo Buff just to provide a slightly yellowy clean canvass to start work on again

Now that the Buff has dried I have applied a wash of thinned Game Colour Yellow ink to give a nice yellow midtone that i can now highlight and shadow more easily

Still really enjoying this one more to follow

Ok so i have finally achieved the effect i was looking for however there was so many steps and different combinations of wash highlight shadows + tantrums from a two year old that i kinda of lost track of the actual process so i do apologize but i am happy with the effect

100_2316.JPG100_2317.JPG100_2319.JPG100_2320.JPG100_2321.JPG100_2323.JPG100_2325.JPG100_2327.JPG100_2331.JPG100_2333.JPG100_2334.JPG100_2335.JPG the pics are a little brighter than the actual piece

The regimental facings having finally dried fully they looked far to lemon yellow than i had intended so to keep them in line with my references i applied a final tonal wash using heavily thinned Vallejo Medium Flesh

100_2339.JPG100_2340.JPG100_2341.JPG100_2342.JPG100_2345.JPG100_2346.JPG100_2347.JPG100_2349.JPG100_2350.JPG100_2352.JPG100_2354.JPG
This also reduced the starkness of the pin wash which upon reflection was far to dark.

The buttonhole twist effect has come out exactly how i wanted

After some desk reorganising yesterday wanted to get cracking today.............

I laid another glaze of Vallejo Tan Yellow over the regimental facings just as a final highlight.

I added Stitching effect to the piping and buttonholes on the rear of the jacket using small lines of Game Colour Charred Brown and Game Colour Scarlet.

The officers sash was first highlighted using Game Colour Scarlet, Then Second highlight was applied using Vallejo Carmine Red. The final highlight was applied using a mix of a drop of Vallejo Salmon Rose Pink and Vallejo Red.

The Officers Wings have areas of Red fabric as well as Silver Lace so These red pieces were base coated using Game Colour Scarlet. These were then given a Shadow wash using a thinned mix of Vallejo Dark Red and Game Colour Charred Brown.

My final act before the school run was to pick out the seems using Game Colour Charred Brown.

Sorry There weren't more step by step pictures but my wife had hidden (oops sorry Tidied) the camera away. So didn't find till tonight.
