Bonus Thursday off today, which allowed time to apply the rest of the gambeson's second shading.
(The triangle of white on the back isn't an oversight; the third shading will cover it)

Hi David

Apologies missed a lot on this ,certainly coming along really well , good painting on the clothing , liking the way you’ve highlighted

Keep at this , it’s going to be a nice result

Experimented with the next tone of shading around the tunic hem and gambeson interface.
Not much time painting today, cos we still have to practise at the butts on Sundays here. I managed to hit the target more often this morning.
More planned tomorrow on this pretty-boy...

These ancient laws about practicing archery can be so restrictive in the modern world, still at least your sheep can graze on common land so it can't all be bad.

The shading makes the undercut look sharp, I still have to stop myself just using black, a hang over from 28mm minis.

Cheers Simon

Thanks, gents.
Deep shading is Humbrol enamel: dark stone, black and dark earth.
Hopefully, the final reveal will be a very earthy, grubby individual.

They do the clout shooting there, too. Last weekend was a competition: perhaps as close as we'll ever get to seeing a rank of archers loosing arrows into the sky, to land about 100m away.
"The hissing death of North Yorkshire "?

Not by any stretch of the imagination an archer, I'd rather have an SLR. It would be good to see all those arrows in flight though. As far as I understand it the long bow was originally a Welsh weapon, taken on by Edward I 'longshanks' and was what the English used to defeats the Scots Shiltrons when we went north of the border. Well that's how I remember it anyway.

That's adding some depth to the change between garments, subtle but very effective. I note his shine pad armour has different coloured leather straps, that's an interesting detail thar tells it's own little story.

Cheers Simon
