Hi.
When Serega the Italian presented this work several years ago, I saw the distorted, scarred face of this colorful character. I think these scars need to be emphasized somehow. I think it's possible, although I don't know which end to take the brush from.
Yes, I went for "less is more ". Hopefully the "finished" photos will show it properly.

More shading (legs)

Nice work, is the seam down the back of the hood sculpted in or paint? Love how you're doing this so much subtle work all coming together making the figure come to life, I wish I had your patience. I rush it then end up having to make it look right rather than your gradual build up.

Cheers Simon

That sounds like a plan.
How are your eye and your hip?

Eye is just about back to normal, I have another injection next week, hopefully I won't have another big bleed, we shall see. Hip is a bitch, on my feet far too much yesterday and I'm really paying the price today. Mixed feelings about it but my wife has ordered me an electric mobility scooter, she was hinting pretty heavily before the hip went. I guess it's not so bad because she gets knackered pushing me in a normal wheelchair. On the plus side I can race my Granddaughter around the estate when she gets her bike out!! Keep well bud.

Cheers Simon

Take it steady. Fingers crossed that the eye injection is successful and not too traumatic. It's a rocky road you're on right now. I hope you get the op before long.

Cheers David, it's a bit rough but never going to let it stop.me, at the very least it's all a great excuse to spend more time at my desk!

Actually you can see the subtlety of the shading, a back drop of something dark would rather than your desk would help. There is a definite life breathed into the figure all the muted colours are combining into something eye catching and as the weather is getting warmer you don't have to risk hypothermia any more!

Cheers Simon

Hi David

Your really bringing this piece to life , your approach to the shading works well

Looking at the face .....he’s not exactly good looking so suits the subject well

Look forward to seeing more

Have fun at the bench

Looks really great David, slow and steady wins the race I guess, just love the subtle transitions from shade to light, brilliant stuff. Hope the chilblains are healing up.

Cheers Simon

Thanks guys
It's an over-exposed photo, but I needed the attention (!!)
I'm not happy with the face yet.
Chilblains are receding into memory now, thanks Simon.
I hope you are OK?

Confession:
I sinned yesterday, and bought a 1/48 Nieuport 11 (Bébé).
A winter project, cos I can build it in the spare bedroom and not freeze during December and January.
And it's a change of pace from shading, highlighting, blending.
