Hi Malc it’s coming along very well indeed love the linen effect on the shirt. It’s looking very different with the light blue tank top. It’s going to be a very colourful piece when finished. The skin tones are looking very good too. You are definitely capturing he scene. Ok people might say it’s a bit Hollywood but it’s still very entertaining to look at, and if your enjoying it that’s all that matters. Keep up the good work so looking forward to seeing what you do with the others.

Hi Steve

I was hoping to avoid it looking a bit too Hollywood, but I also didn't want it to look dull.
So I'm going down the Pirates of the Caribbean route, hopefully capturing an in between look.
Glad you like what I've achieved so far, and I must add, that the parts fit together like a dream.

Malc,

Loved the persil joke, so much so I showed the wife. It is a running joke in our house as it was introduced to the states 7 years ago. However, she used it in Germany all the time before that.

Also she is my mirror when I paint and am unsure I am heading in a good palette of colors. Yes, she has looked a couple and said I don't like it. So after drying my tears I strip it down and start over.

She has given your work in process the " wow I really like that!" So all other opinions are now moot!!!!!

Keep the updates coming you now have a new fan.

Cheers,
Todd

Hi Malc I think your going down the right road, love that your going to capture A bit of both worlds. Your doing a great job on him. So happy your having no trouble with the fit of the parts. We put one together for display and like you it went together so very well. Juan our caster does a great job on them as well as Eduard who sculpted and engineered them.

cheers Todd, I shall now only listen to critic by Mrs Bigtodd ;) , and of course Mrs C as she is my mirror, although she often comments,
You never take my advice..

And as I typed this reply, I heard an aircraft go over, a very distinctive sound, dashed outside to watch a Lancaster fly over.
What a sight, one I will never tire of.

Hi Malc

Nice update young fella , liking the shirt ...will you add any " dirt " as well at the end or are the "boys" out looking for ladies outside a suitable place of refreshment ?

Good suggestion from Todd and yourself ......listen to the ladies in our lives ! ...Mrs T , Mrs C and definately for me my Mrs P ....lol

Thanks for the updates

Keep painting

Think I'm going to leave any dirt off this one, although I will try and make pirates 2 & 3 look more faded, and have Captain Morgan looking a bit smarter.
There's so many options for this scene to be painted, from Hollywood glamour through to the more realistic setting.

Malc

I've attached the figures right arm and finished the shirt, and started on the trousers.
My next task is the pistols, sword and sash.
I've got so engrossed in this figure, that I haven't made any progress with the other two pirates.

No stripes on this one, keeping it simple. Definitely enjoying this, I'm not experiencing any issues like I did on Colonel Chamberlain.
More work needed on the trousers, not happy with them at the moment. Not too much to do to complete this figure,
and then on to Captain Morgan himself.

I re worked the trousers, and think they look a little better.
The boots have been painted in oils to give a different texture, the final details will be added once the oils have dried and settled.
The scabbard and sash are next on the list to be completed, with any luck that will be tomorrow.

Holy crap! A Lancaster! That's really cool. I love those planes and have never seen one. Not even in a museum, let alone a flyover. I hope they weren't going after any dams...

By the way, the paint looks great I'm enjoying following this.

Hope you get to see one, one day, they're quite incredible to see, whether on land or flying.
I suppose I've been fortunate to see them fly quite regularly.

I'm glad you're enjoying this project.
