While making a start on painting Captain Morgan's face I became aware that my close work glasses and visor were no longer suitable,
fortunately I had a stronger pair available, and then set about ordering a new visor with a range of lenses.
It arrived this morning midway through my painting session. What a difference it made, and so useful to be able to change a lens
to suit your purpose.
I've also put myself down for a Redgrass R9 desk lamp, especially designed for us modellers.
Enough rambling, here's a pic of Captain Morgan, who appears to be sneering, that's my poor artwork, but I think it works.

The visor comes in a nice sturdy case and is suitable for those who wear glasses and those who don't.

Hi Malc it’s a very good start to the face love the shear, adds more character to the face.

The new sight aid looks very good indeed, did you get it from Amazon? Like the idea of different lenses would come in very useful indeed.

Hi Steve.
Glad you like the face, and the sneer.
Yes, I purchased the visor from Amazon. I'd been thinking about getting one for a while. Pleased I did, the choice of lenses
is going to come in very useful.

Hi Malc.

That looks a real posh visor ......be interested how you get on with it , are the lens all of use or do you keep to one magnification ?
...and you can keep sandwiches and biscuits in at shows !

I need a lamp , so searching , like the Reedgrass but it's blooming expensive still any would be a improvement on the candle I use ....lol

Now on to the pirate ....cue suitable voice ......"Avast and splice the mainbrace you scurvy ridden swabs"

....nice painting on that flesh of Mr Morgan .....definately looking good

Following with interest

Happy benchtime

I've used two different lenses at present, I daresay I will try the others and find them all useful.
Yes, the Redgrass lamp is expensive, but it'll be worth it in the long run, and I'll save on candles.
Glad you approve of Mr Morgan in the early stages.

My apologies for the lack of updates, I've been a bit under the weather, so sadly no time spent on painting.
I'm now feeling a little better and pleased to be able to make some progress.
I want Captain Morgan to look more vibrant then the other characters, and so I've used oils over acrylics to achieve this on some of his clothing.

Very nice work, I too like the way you handled the pistol in the sash. This is going to look great when done!

Thanks for the steer on the Vision Aid, I bought one and already prefer it to my optivisor. I thought the light on it was a bit of a gimmick but it has been really helpful when rigging WWI aircraft.

I'm now awaiting delivery of my Redgrass lamp, which should be here in a couple of weeks. I'm holding off more figure painting until I have that.

Hi Rob, I suppose you could go all Hollywood with him and say it’s Captain Blood that might be a route to go down. It’s up to the modeller to work the magic on the scene. Either way it will be a colourful piece. So meany combinations of colour you can use.

It’s a pleasure seeing the different versions of this each one has its own interpretation which is good. Have seen a couple of them on their own and they work very well too and one where the whole background was changed and that looked very impressive too. So meany options with the set. I know of one set where the modeller is doing them on board a ship now that’s different.
