I'm going to add some weathering to pirates 2 & 3, Thought I'd leave Captain Morgan as he is.
I'll probably use powders for this, although I have started to apply some grime here and there.

From these photos you can get a better idea of the aging of the helmets.
After watching a couple of episodes of Black Sails to get some inspiration for colours to use on Pirate 3,
I was rather taken by a shirt worn by Captain Flint, a darkish grey colour with a hint of blue.
I've gone down a similar route, but wanted it to look a bit more faded.
The shadows were painted in first with Scale 75 Graphene grey, Then I added a touch of Deep Blue and then finally some white until I had produced the shade I was after.
A couple of thinned coats were applied to give base to work on, with the shadows showing through.
Then it was just a matter of building up the highlights and deepening any shadows where necessary.

Yeah liking the helmet a whole lot more now with the extra piccies, mind you it was already a good job. The shirt colour is nice too, never seen as episode of Black Sails though, looking forward to seeing the whole lot together gonna be a real eye catcher.

Now we see the helmet ...good effects , perhaps a tiny bit of rust around the rivets !

Shirt looks good , nice colour choice after the viewing research

Might be me not sure on the green against the blue .....

The trio do work well together and your bringing them alive ......you can almost smell the rum !!

Very nice progress MalcC!!!
I like the effect on the helmet and I belive is not nessesery to be a lot of damage,used or rust!because he will not wear it! If I was pirate I will try to find a good contition helmet to wear!
So I belive you made it exactly as it should be!!!!

You're right about the green, I believe there's a saying, blue and green shouldn't be seen.
I'm in the process of changing it to a red/brown.
Started work on the leather strap this morning, along with the treasure chest.
And I can definitely smell the rum.

Ha like that would work, I do however threaten to pop her in the freezer and defrost in the microwave before I hand her back. For some reason she doesn't believe me!
