Hi Simon

Your really cracking on with both horse and lancer ...going to be good together

Looking forward to seeing more

Hope we see pics from the Nationals on the Show thread

Happy benchtime and no speeding in the dream machine

Nap

Cheers Kev, he's getting there one detail at a time, I even bought a base for him.

As for pictures at thd Nationals, yeah I didn't take any, it never crossed my mind, just like so many things these days!

Going to try the cripple cart out by going to the pub on Sunday if it's not raining. Best go steady though don't want to loose my licence !

Cheers Simon

Hi Simon, I hope your new chariot makes life a bit easier for you.

This is coming together very nicely, I'm really looking forward to seeing the paint being applied.

Malc

Cheers Malc, so long as I don't put my back out getting it in and out of the car all should be good.

Not far from painting the horse, just want to get the base sorted so I know it fits. The figure still needs a fair bit of work but he's getting there.

Cheers Simon

Well, I'm late to this party!
Sorry Simon. I didn't see you had a new project on the go until now.
It looks really nice thus far. And a refreshingly original one, once more.
Good luck with your chariot, and in the street grand prix.

A little progress, the Lancers right arm is done with his hand clutching his lance as a separate part. The fingers and thumb are made from Magicsculpt, the lance itself is a length of brass rod, the point is a Historex part carefully drilled to make a solid fit with the filed down brass rod end.

Many thanks to Pierre I know lance from 1896 was bamboo, the growth knots on the pole were made with a narrow strip of my favourite post it paper secured with superglue. Once all set the knots are filed down into a better size and shape. The wrist strap is a loop of wine bottle foil, I still.need to fill in around where it is glued to the shift to represent how it is attached.

The lance pennon is interesting, we are used to the normal two pronged red over white pennons of British Regts and most French and other European countries. The Belgian pennon at this time incorporated the three colours of the National Flag, red, black and yellow. This is illustrated earlier in the thread, again thanks to Pierre.

I have a correction to the back of the dolman to make and I have marked where I will be adding the remaining lace. Oh and I have put together a Historex sword, somewhere!

Well, you certainly haven't been a slouch lately!
It's looking good. A really nice project.
Cheers David, slow work but looks OK when done.

I have been working into the night and added the braid across the Lancers chest. I started using fishing line but couldn't see it, so that all came off. I have used the copper wire from inside a length of flex, no idea what guage/thickness or whatever is the correct term, but it's pretty close to my 0.3mm soldering wire. The buttons were all made using my punch and die set, it's all stuck down with superglue, using a fibreglass pencil I cleaned up the excess glue ad I went. Still got the trefoil on the ends of the rows to do, not sure if I make a jib and form them from wire or use Magicsculpt, I shall ruminate on that tonight as I try to get some sleep.

He's starting to look the part now, at last.

Cheers Simon

Kev, Neil, David thank you all very much gentlemen, I think I need to replace the lace on the bottom left, it seems wider than the rest. I think the jig is the way forward if I want to keep the level.of detail.

Cheers Simon
