Holy!!! Outstanding! Both - research and your work with all the badges, medals and ribbons.
The inscription says: Brotherhood in arms upholds peace and socialism.
A shield with two swords against the backgroun of the contours of Poland. According to the messages, King Władysław Jagiełło received them fro the Grand Master of the teutonic order, Ulrik von Jungingen, as an encouagement to fight, just before the battle of grunwald, on July 15, 1410. Polish troops were hiding in the forests all the hot morning, while the heavily armed teutonic knights stood in the scorching July sun.
The battle ended with the defeat of nthe Teutonic army, however, it didn't lead to the fall of the Order. We had to wait another 100 years for that.
Ok, sorry for offtop. I watch in awe!

possibly several Order of the Patriotic War he wears

Jep, all three grades!

Today I put his brass crucifix on our hero!

For this I take the already mentioned anchor chain on a scale of 1: 100, which survived my ship model building activities in a previous life.

To get a realistic pull on the chain - such a brass crucifix is not that easy! - do I have to part it several times ...:

The chain hangs on the chest under the shoulder strap, for example, behind a button on the Gymnstiorka field blouse.

What can I say? Playing around with superglue on a painted figure is not a subject to entertainment tax!

Ultimately, however, the thing succeeds without an accident ...:

Cheers

Hi Martin

I am really liking that ..looks good .....bet you were wishing you'd put it on before painting .......I salute your bravery against the superglue monster

Don't know why it wasn't sculpted on the release ?

Look forward to seeing this painted

Happy benchtime

I'm gonna start looking for a crucifix now, before mine turns up! Quality work on that Martin.

St Andrew is the patron saint of Russia, not St George, that is why the senior order of the country is St Andrew the First Called. St George is the patron of Moscow.

St Andrew is the patron saint of Russia, not St George

"In Christian hagiography, Saint George is the patron saint of Aragon, Catalonia, England, Ethiopia, Georgia, Greece, Lithuania, Palestine, Portugal, and Russia."

(Source: Wikipedia)

Website of the Russian orthodox Church (English Version)...:

Святой Георгий покровитель России ( = Svyatoy Georgiy pokrovitel' Rossii / Saint George patron saint of Russia)

It continues with the further detailing!

We recognize that our hero has attached two decorations to the chain with which he carries his cross around the halo ...:

The enlarged section shows that there are two silver agraffes (a kind of brooches) with semi-precious stones ...:

The bright semi-precious stone is amber ...

... the red one is a garnet ...:

I sculpted the two agraffes today ...:

Cheers

(y) You gonna do his underwear too?

Who are the big, mean-looking dudes in blue behind the old guy in the above photo? I wouldn't want to upset any of 'em!

How nice that you asked me that!

They are Cossacks!

More precisely: Registered Cossacks of the Don host (Zaregistriroje Donskoj Woiska) ...:

In order to become a registered Cossack, you have to have a white record and be loyal to the state (vulgo: Putin-loyal).

The boys take on barrier and security tasks as auxiliary police at larger events - and sometimes thrash unwanted demonstrators together with their Nagaikas, like here during the Olympic Games in Sochi ...:

The new uniform has been around since 2015 ...:

Wassja Putin has given the Cossacks back their old role of anti-insurgency armed forces! The Cossacks play this role again today - they already played it under the Tsars. Every Cossack host has to have such registered Cossacks!

These are:

1. Central Cossack Host (Moskow):

2. Don Host:

3. Jenisseij Host:

4. Kuban Host:

Martin

That 2015 uniform has a diamond shaped badge on pocket is that the same one our veteran wears by the neck chain on his left ?

Intrigued !

Exactely, Kev!

Its the graduate badge, awarded to servicemen for graduating from military educational institutions of professional education of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation:

Our friend may have got it from the "blue boys" behind him as a gift for souvenir...

These rhombus-shaped badges are always graduate badges of some military training institutions - and there are almost countless of them ...

Cheers
