Starting 1/48 scale figures. I have questions.

54mm is in the 1/32 to 1/35 scale range (closer to 1/32, I believe). Welcome to the planet and good luck with your sculpting. Others here can be of assistance in that department (not me though - I tried sculpting a 90mm blob of putty with less than convincing results).

Pilipili Mongol Bust from the man himself.

Hi Glen, Great work on the bust. The shading on the face is really well done. P.S. I was fortunate enough to meet Quang as well at WE 2008 and I was very impressed with his warmth and friendliness towards me, especially as I'm hardly a regular around here.

    Prince August Acrylics

Are Prince August acrylic paints the same as Vallejo? Photos of bottles that I've seen online look to be identical (except for the label, of course). Just curious if it was the same formula. I don't believe that Prince August is available anymore based on my web searches. Thanks, Brent F.

    LIFE Photo Archive

I did a quick search and didn't see this topic posted, so I thought I'd bring it up. I discovered this on a model aircraft forum and people there have been quite enthralled with the images that have surfaced. Google has joined forces with the Life magazines archives and have created an online...

If I learned about life from figure modelling..

Great thread! My two cents: - whenever a building is destroyed, a construction company comes and removes most of the debris and rubble so that tanks and other vehicles have room to park close to the remains of the building. - the only time civilians leave their homes is to give food to...

Looking for Model Shops in Madrid

That's unbelievable, Glen. We need to discuss this more - I'd be more than happy to get together. I was hoping to do something model related while I was there (thus the hobby store inquiry). Please send me an email!

    Decals for German camo patterns

A company called Eduard came out with pre-painted photoetch for detailing aircraft model cockpits. When they first came out I didn't like them and thought that they detracted from the hobby. However, as they evolved, they began to replicate levels of detail in 1:48 scale (e.g. 1:48 scale data...

How Do You Fix Clear Parts????

As others have said above, there are a number of ways to fix the clear part. The easiest is likely to go your nearest well stocked hobby store and buy a Squadron tri-grit sanding stick. Start with the coarsest and work your way down to the finest grit. Follow this up with nice buff with some...
