A Fixture
Hi all
Just thought I would post some details about a project that is under way, as some of you guys would have read in my post in the lounge about the School in Normandy named after my dad and his best friend Tom Griffith's.
I have been mulling over an idea for quite a while , to present to busts to the school depicting two infantry soldiers.
I spoke with Jimbo ( aka lets get some legs on um) and we chatted about the concept , Jim as always was enthusiastic as I , Jim came up with two busts from Young miniatures (his own) the LRDG and the Tank Regiment a beautiful base to mount them on.
This is why this hobby is such a fantastic one by the time I had left and got home we are that close I can walk Jim had already started to convert what a guy ! His enthusiasm for the project is wonderful but more than that he really gets what the project is about and the meaning of the busts being presented to the school on the 70th Anniversary of D -Day this year .
Jim has also cast two helmets and is scratch building the top of the Enfield and the tops of two shovels what can I say just awesome .
Jim has offered to do the faces and I will do the uniforms and equipment so I had best be on top of my game .
It's wonderful that Jim has entered into this his Dad served in the same area and both fought on Hill 112, although in different regiments , so in a sense the figures will be to represent the our dads and the cast of thousands that participated in that momentous under taking that seems like so long ago for us but for them feels like yesterday
Thank you so much Jim for all you are doing when I spoke to dad last night and told him how it was going he did have to choke back some emotion and no doubt a tear or to cheers mate .
Perhaps the other legacy of all this will be that the children who look at these busts will be captivated perhaps and who knows will one day pick up a paint brush, some clay, a book and even not pick up an xbox controller and start an interest that we all know we love to do .
These are the figs that Jim has started working on
Cheers Guys
