Hey guys,

Thanks for the kind words and I hope this looks ok. I am pretty pleased. I had a chance to paint it this afternoon.

Patrick,

The wood grain was painted with Andrea colors, wood, earth and dark flesh and Vallejo black. The base was wood and the grain was added by using the other colors. The black was mixed into the dark flesh and the earth was used straight from the bottle. After it was finished I put a stain of burnt umber oil paints. I did this to bring it all together. After the figure is finished I will give is a satin coat.

Joe

Guy and Jim,

Thanks, I appreciate the kind words. I am going to try and repost a few pictures. I was told it may be easier for others to view them not so large so I hope this works.

Dear joe,

Very well painted face. As for the size of the picture, I think it's good enough. Any smaller and we will be missing the details.

regards :)

Jason and Wong,

Thanks. I have started to work on the cords on the bearskin. Not much but just had the time to take a picture.

Joe, my friend, the face looks great,up to your standards, as usual.

Keep up the good work and looking forward to your next step.

Cheers

Roc. :)

Joe, that is an excellent job on the whites. Textbook in my opinion. I like every aspect of this figure. Take a break and pat yourself on the back.

Joe,
Thanks for the details on the woodgrain...I really like the effect you get with it!

Your flesh tones look spot on! The transition of the highlights, to midtones, to the shadows are spectacular! I am amazed at your work at this scale...simply awesome!

How do you intend to handle to bearskin?

All the best

Patrick

Hey guys, thanks again for the kind words.

Colin,

Thanks again for the scans. They were a big help.

Patrick,

I look forward to seeing your woodgrains. Now about the bearskin, I am not to sure. I may lean toward a brownish tone but if anyone has an opinion I am wide open. :) Like I have said before, I am not to familiar with this time period and I know that many of you know much more on this topic so again I am open to any help.

Joe

This past Wednesday I was happy to be able to have Joe over to my house for a visit. At the end of his visit I took a few pictures of his Dutch Grenadier and Napoleon. Though the Grenadier is not complete, you can already see what a great job he's doing on him. There are subtle differences in the white for all the various parts of the uniform that are that color. i hope you can pick them out here.~Gary
