How do you lay out the patterns for the turban? Folding up something as a mock up? Making dots and connecting?

Thanks Wayne - he's been a real joy to paint so far, there were a lot of little details that I missed at first glance, and it's been nice trying to make him come alive! I did finish his right arm, so it's just the left arm and pistols left to finish him out...

Hello Johnny - for the turban, I didn't do anything special, no connecting dots or anything like that. I just did it one step at a time. After putting on the pinstripes, I then painted big off-white stripes. Then once they were on, I painted the little black borders on each side of them. Next I painted in the small solid diamonds in the center. Once I had those, I painted the diamond borders around them. Despite the fact that I did no pre-planning or use dots or anything like that, before I went on to each step, I made sure to clean up any necessary inaccuracies or mistakes (which there were plenty of ).
