Hey there Gordy

Hi Gordon:

Thanks for chiming in on this thread. So you're aware of that old Mattel toy
too. And back in the 1960s and 70s I was an aircraft modeler; we all were
aware of this Mattel toy and why it was important to own one. And that was
my Christmas present to myself. The only downside to the machine is that
the platform for vacu-forming plastic is very small in dimensions. Less than
3 inches square.

Gordy, I hope you are planning on being at the IPMS/USA National Conv. in
Omaha, next August. As I would hope to get a chance to meet you in person;
same for Joe Hudson.

Thanks again,

Miami Jayhawk

Christopher Walken! Can he sing that carol??

Hi Ken:

Today is the first time I've seen your new Seasonal Avatar. . . and it just
cracked me up. Sleigh Bells ring, are you listenin' . . . in the lane, snow is
glistenin' . . . Walken in a Winter Wonderland. That's just too much. I'm not
sure why I find it so so amusing, this early frosty cold morning. But ah do!

Of course, Christopher Walken is one of the most talented individuals in the
film business. I admire his craft so much. He has the talent to stretch
in almost any role. And in the film Hairspray, I found out he could
dance and keep up with John Travolta in drag, . . . with no problem mo.

Thanks for your kind words, Ken,

rickster

Yo Gothicgeek

Hi Mark:

Hopefully, this won't get any more difficult, as the pieces are so small for
these old fingers, . . . and I'll keep it going. All the good wishes and
encouraging words from fellow Planeteers really has been an inspiration
to keep with it.

Seasons Greetings to you, Mark

Hello Mr. Moschakis

Hi George:

Indeed, Airfix kits are really showing their age now, and have been re-popped
so many times over the years. One of the reasons I feel I need to use resin
heads. But hopefully, I can get the skill level thru out the project where it
needs to be in order to compete with some outstanding figure modelers, . . .
in Omaha, Neb. next August.

Kind regards,

Jayhawker

Greetings, Yoo Jae Kwon

Hi JK:

Thank you for your most kind remarks. And I do appreciate you taking time
to post your opinion here. Making figure conversions like this one, is
difficult for me, yet it is something I would really like to improve my skill
at. . . and there is only one way to do that. . . We do learn by doing! So I
intend to put the time in.

And hopefully, I will be able to post updates with photos and text from time
to time here on PF.

Have a great day,

Rick Brownlee

Great start Rick.
Wonderful modelling technique.
I'm looking forward to progress of your work very much.

Mitsutaka.

Good day, Mitsutaka

Hello Mitsutaka:

It was so kind of you to post your comments, my friend. I do so appreciate
your kind words. Today I've been working on the arms and the torso with
copper wire, and drilling holes in the appropriate places on his bod deeee.
Not really that sexy, . . .but a necessary step if I want to end up with
arms that are posed in a natural looking position. I intend to have his left
hand holding the reins and his right hand holding a guide on, or unit banner
that the Roundhead Cavalry used in that period. More on all that later. But I
will add a couple of well. . . ah . . . they are boring pictures of dealing with
the joints in his shoulders and arms. Sigh. . .:eek::eek:

Thanks again, Mitsutaka for your encouragement. I do appreciate your words.

Since this photo was taken, I've used Super Glue to attach the piece of plastic
tubing in the chest of the soldier. After everything was good and solid re the
gluing, as I used the accellerator (durn burn it I can't remember how to spell
that word) to speed up the drying time of the super glue, I sawed off the
excess from the plastic tubing, so the tubing was flush with the torso.

Hopefully, this make some sense, . . . hopefully,

rick

To my friend in Scotland, Hello David

Hi David:

Perhaps I did say way back when that Brownlee is a Scottish name and my
dad's forebears were from Scotland. Originally the name was Greenleigh, and
indicated a terrain feature, such as meadow.

I hope some day to visit your beautifully rugged country. ;) Altho time is
running out, you understand. :):)

And I do appreciate you taking time to comment, David. Thank you for the
encouragement.

Hey Carl, in de house. well could be???

Hi Carl:

Thanks for chiming in here Carl. So far it has been rather tedious but I think
I am enjoying it. I notice as I'm older that I don't seem to get discouraged
when things get rough; I just keep at a certain part, such as the pair of
saddle holsters that will hold flint lock pistols on both sides of the horse's
saddle, until I get it right. Of course, the process is slow, but that is where
the discipline comes in.

Thanks again, my friend,

Rickster

Hello Matey in Leicester. . .

Hi Steve:

Appreciate your kind words. After shooting those photos, I did indeed saw
off the excess parts of the plastic tubing going thru the torso at the shoulder
joints. And it went rather smoothly. Bring on the bubbly??? well perhaps not.

Thanks again for your comments, my friend,

Ricardo Jaybird
