Surely this particular Salmond thread has, having been spawned in the pristine waters of a highland stream has since found itself as fry, which did quickly become river dwelling parr which was washed down into the swollen seas of political discussion as smolt where it enjoyed some free range before returning to it's original river as kelt where after voting itself amongst the gravel and undergoing a dramatic hormonal crisis it has now weakened, withered, died and become part of the river ecology.
