Quick update, I didn't get as much done today as I had hoped, I had an afternoon nap instead.

His gold lace has been detailed, shaded and highlighted and finally varnished nice and flat with AK Ultra Matt. The two halves have been joined allowing me to concentrate on the rest of the figure. Still a lot to do, which is ok as I haven't even got a base for him yet.

Wow!!!

Hi Daniel, the blue is just post it note paper glued in place with PVA. Once the stuff is wet it is possible to slowly bend it around curves and such like. I can cut thin strips with a new sharp scalpel blade, not sure if it would cut fine enough for your scale but give it a go. I get consistent width long strips of lace that are a fair scale thickness.

Thanks for the detailed info Mate.
Keep up the great work!

Nice work so far. I really like the face, lots of character in that and the eyes are fantastic for a 54mm figure.

Many thanks Nigel, got to admit I'm happy with the face on this one. No progress today been up half the night sick as a dog, oh well watched hundreds of cat kids on Facebook!

This is looking great. What tools and material did you use for the buttons? And when you use the post-it paper, do you put something over it to fix it in place?

Hi and thanks for your kind words. I use a punch and die set for the buttons and fix each one in place with the smallest dot of superglue possible. Once all set I file them down as the plasticard I use is a little over scale. I have been toying with the idea of using wine bottle foil instead of plasticard but that will have to wait for a new figure.

As for the post it paper, I use just white PVA to keep it in place, I find it dries without leaving any trace behind so does not show through as messy work under the paint layer.

Hi Simon

Good update on this , in scale bet face looks even better

Hope your feeling better

Looking forward to seeing more

Happy benchtime

Nap

Cheers Kev, the face is better in person the photography tends to wash the colour out a bit.

Feeling much better apart from ribs that feel as if they were used as a punch bag all day.

He's looking great, Simon. I always find photographs are poor substitute for the real thing, but it is better than nothing.
Melanie

Thank you Melanie, given that we're all modellers and painters photography is not in everyone's skill set, certainly not mine, but yes they are better than nothing.
