And relax, the monster has been taken away by her parents, a quick tidy up a cup of tea and almost back to normal.

I did manage some work yesterday before she arrived, most correcting where the knees are, trouser stripes has gone but I think I'll paint that detail in. Also worked on the lower end of the überrock.

Hi Simon

Nice bit of putty pushing there , will you thin the edges down further ?

Good work on the knees

Glad you survived ... ...sure she’s a lovely monster ...lol

Looking forward to seeing more

Have fun

Nap

Cheers Nap, yeah I survived, mostly because my back is playing up and I'm restricted to the arm chair most if the time, especially when nicks my walking sticks.

I'll post this afternoons efforts soonish, but yes I intend squaring the edges ad much ad possible so it'll be wet and dry emery paper coming to play soon.

Cheers Simon

Another bit of progress, I smoothed down the lower part of the überrock but still need to square and thin the lower hem area more before I can add the rear details.

The peak of the mutze is in place, I filled out more of the upper portions of the überrock and right sleeve. The flapping corner of the coat is now in place but will need thinning down quite a bit when dry.

I'm thinking I may have to change the left arm a bit to hold the sword, the single sword sling comes out from under the coat, hence it's raised appearance. So some adjustments will have to be made.

Now I need to watch the putty cure!

Cheers Simon

looking forward to seeing what you do with the new head- the old one isn't so bad.....

Looks like I need to go back to the old Historex head, this one from G&G is too small. Seeing it now as I fill out the body it definitely is out of scale, probably down to Historex being larger than the average 54mm. I will rework the ears and cap though.

Oh well such is life.

You don't make things easy for yourself....... But it will be worth the effort.

Fascinating to watch a sculpt slowly come to life Simon. Not my era, but following with interest.

Cheers Henk, this is going slow with swapping heads and stuff but I'm pleased you like it. The support gets me through the "I'll never get this right" phase I'm in right now.

Thanks Nigel, it would all go a lot smoother if I actually planned the build properly, but when I do that I never stick to it so I generally stick to the bull in a China shop approach.

wow, after my comment I wasn't expecting that!
Getting the proportions right is one of the difficulties of sculpting over an armature -and especially the head size actually. when the armature is bare or unfinished the head or joints can often look out of scale.

Well I have plonked the original head back in place minus the cap and ears, I'll make a new start on them. I could order bigger heads but they take a while and I'd need to wait till pay day anyway, so this is going to be good to push me out of my comfort zone a little, well quite a lot actually but hey ho such is life.

Cheers Simon

Well I was intending to do some sculpting today before my Granddaughter arrives after play group. However my wife and eldest son conspired against me with other plans.

I ended up having a late birthday present.

It's the shiny one in the middle on my upper right arm! You'd think at my age I'd know better but not much chance of that.

Cheers Simon

Cheers Simon

This new tattoo is number 16, I started when I was 17 years old mostly because as junior soldiers we were not allowed tattoos, so of course a handful of us went into Aldershot to get tattooed. Still it is only temporary, it will go when I get cremated after (I hope) death!

they must cremated you then hé,djeez about what are we talking oh man (y)

I agree tattoos are only temporary, if you want art that lasts better do it on canvas or in stone. Yeah we only live once so make the most of it, somewhere there is a river of wine I need to drink before it's too late!

You can always have your tattooed skin preserved and framed. (again, after death.... )
