I've had a fairly hectic few days and will have my Granddaughter tomorrow so I've not really done a great deal. I finished the flapping coat front, nearly finished both arms and made a start on a new mutze. Also nearly finished his ears as there weren't any on the Historex head.

I really like to see the progress of, if you allow the comparison, from stick man to complete figure. It takes skill and an artist's eye, go turn something that's "not quite right" into something that's "right".

Many thanks Nigel, the G&G head was too small, the Historex head is good so long as I get the ears right. I always say if you are dealt enough to have a tattoo then it should hurt!

I got to my bench for a short time yesterday, didn't manage much though. Sleeve is finished and hands are in place, I then had to redo the flapping coat front so the sword sling could go inside the coat. He now has buttons and the start of his shoulder boards as well as more work on the mutze. I also started playing around with the base he'll go on rather than leaving it ad an afterthought as I usually do.
Time now to do some more before the rugby starts this evening.

Did you make the cap brim from putty this time, Simon, or from thick paper like you used on the previous figure? The cap looks very good!

This time I used Magicsculpt Brad, as I have a bit more room to play with, also I made a slight uplift of the crown edge over er eyes. The reference picture has it and I thought it may add a little panache to the pose as he seems a little wooden the way he is standing.

Catch up on yesterday's work, mostly on the mutze and his shoulder boards. I put in the other side of the slit in the back of the coat, needs some tidying up and then the false pockets adding. With all that he should be close to needing a paint job.

Today's efforts have just about finished the build, stretched sprue has been used for the piping on the mutze, collar, cuffs, rear pockets and trouser stripes. Next job is grey primer and check for imperfections etc, course I'll need it to stop raining first as I'm not allowed to spray cellulose paint in the house!

It's taken me years to be happy with the sculpting, luckily all my older stuff fell in the dustbin several years ago. I started with simply conversions but really enjoy the process, I'll never be able to produce saleable stuff but I enjoy it all the sane.
As for officers, at the risk of offending any on here I agree with that Federal Private, mind with all the bling they do.make good modelling subjects, especially the Napoleonic ones. To be fair though I have worked with some really cracking blokes who just happened to have her Majesty's commission.
