Hi Smudger
If my memory serves me right, I believe Charles Davies' son used to organise them, and of course Charles is sadly no longer with us.
I daresay someone could have taken this on, but you're probably right that cutbacks came into it somewhere.
Personally I miss all the re-enactors, the French artlillery on the Leas was always a pleasure to watch, in this case it was the locals who put a stop to them sounding off the cannon. Not to forget the Romans' they also put on a good display.
Once there, they never left the gaybar.
Cheers

They might tied up in the cellar!!!
What a lot of pessimistic talk as usual.I hadn't been to Euro for a couple of years so I was pleasantly surprised, as I thought it was a brilliant show.Loved the whole weekend. All the traders you'ld ever want, fantastic figures in the competition and the camaraderie. What other show offers these 3 in equal quantities. All the top gun painters were there and all the new releases were there too.It seems to be annual event in criticing the show.I personnaly think it's still the best all round show there is.
Brian
Ahh, so thats what the floor looks like. I have never seen it before.
Cheers

Hi Janne, you and Frank were much missed. You'd have loved the 'craic'. Moz was on top form last night and had the whole bunch of us pissing ourselves laughing with his tales of his service days and his key role stop the demolition of the Berlin Wall

I noticed a slight editorial hiccup in this post so I thought I would correct it the offending word is MODERATION!!!!!!!I echo everything Brian says. I had a great time met some new friends and drank in moderation with old ones. There was possibly a less 'electric' atmosphere in the halls this year but this happens from time to time and was more than made up for by the quality of the entries. As for the trading floor there were a few gaps left by previous show stalwarts but it was nice to welcome some new traders who were offering some very interesting pieces. If anything there was possibly too many new releases and I for one wanted everything and ended up buying less than ever, I was overwhelmed but now having had some time for reflection I know what I'll be buying on-line. I also got the chance to see some planned releases due to come out over the next few months and I can tell you they are a bit special. Got to bed at 02.00 on Friday, 03.00 on Saturday and 01.30 on Sunday so a great time.
There will no doubt be the usual 'slating' of the judges but for me the Golds in every category were merited. Like others I thought there should have been more HC and C awards but that's simply a personal observation which I'll expand upon when the inevitable annual judging debate kicks off.
Still buzzing
Derek
