I echo everything Brian says. I had a great time met some new friends and drank in moderation with old ones. There was possibly a less 'electric' atmosphere in the halls this year but this happens from time to time and was more than made up for by the quality of the entries. As for the trading floor there were a few gaps left by previous show stalwarts but it was nice to welcome some new traders who were offering some very interesting pieces. If anything there was possibly too many new releases and I for one wanted everything and ended up buying less than ever, I was overwhelmed but now having had some time for reflection I know what I'll be buying on-line. I also got the chance to see some planned releases due to come out over the next few months and I can tell you they are a bit special. Got to bed at 02.00 on Friday, 03.00 on Saturday and 01.30 on Sunday so a great time.
There will no doubt be the usual 'slating' of the judges but for me the Golds in every category were merited. Like others I thought there should have been more HC and C awards but that's simply a personal observation which I'll expand upon when the inevitable annual judging debate kicks off.
Still buzzing
Derek
I noticed a slight editorial hiccup in this post so I thought I would correct it the offending word is MODERATION!!!!!!!

I must say I'm quite suprised by some of the comments about how quiet Euro was this year. Admitedly I saw most of it from a traders point of view but I did manage a decent wander around.
There was a queue waiting for entry along the Leas at 9:30 on Saturday morning, the likes of which hasn't been seen for a number of years. There were a few noticable absences on the trading floor but those traders that were there had a huge range of new releases and a vast array of modelling related products. The competition entries had reached the 1700 mark by the time I manged to get down there with my figures at mid day; in some categories there was so much to look at you couldn't take it all in.
We've been trading at Euro for 3 years (I've been going for 10 years on top of that ) and we had the busiest Saturday we've ever had and Sunday wasn't much different. We had a lot of interest from overseas visitors but there didn't seem to be the profusion of club shirts normally seen which may give the appearance of fewer foreign attendees.
To be honest I don't think the figure modeller has had it this good for a long time (y)

Please can Mil Mod bring back the Euro Special!!!!

I've sat back and read all the comments about Euro.Looks to me to have been a great show. I've never been there,..But....
I've been on this forum long enough to have confidently placed a bet with my man for the equivalent of a month's pay on the sure thing that most comments would be in the negative, considering they have always been that way every year I've been here......about how it's got to be the last good one, it's not like it used to be, won't be long before it folds. We even had negative comments about being able to get a car parking space!!...complaints about being able to get a car park?
We've got a name here for this kinda thing but I won't use it here in the interest of maintaining good long lasting international relations......

Seems to me it's an incredible show, with a standard of competition never seen before, and something to be well and truly appreciated....cheers.

As I walked from the Clifton to the Leas Cliff Hall on Saturday morning I bumped in to a couple of friends and stood chatting for a while about the sense of anticipation there was about this years Euro and how everyone seemed up for it. The conversation ended along the lines that at the end of the weekend there would still be people moaning about how rubbish it was and how unfair the judging was just they had the years before, but they always come back!
But that is all part of what makes Euro so much fun; the people ;)

I always have asked myself are arseholes a result of nature or nurture .Still don't know the answer to this complex question Mark, but you'll always get these whinging blokes .I think they're trying to justify there existence.

Really not sure why those of us that gave our personal impressions of this years Euro are being qualified as 'whingers' (trying to justify 'their' existence).
My comment about the available car parking was not a complaint. It was simply an observation. Easy parking was a bonus.
I took my partner with me. She was worried that she would find it difficult, as she is very nervous in crowded places, but really wanted to experience the premier event of the figure modelling arena.
She was pleasantly surprised to find that she could cope with the level of people in the halls, and thoroughly enjoyed herself throughout the whole day.
I was very clear in stating I had a great time and spent a lot of money. Not something I would do if I was not enjoying myself.
Simply put, what I find more worrying than what people dress up as, is when others feel the need to put down peoples honest views of their own personal experiences.

Hi all Just to add my bit Euro did seem a bit quite this year and a small number of traders were absent but it did not take it away from the show being a good one. us that went from the White Rose Club had a great time seeing old friends and catching up and all that has happened since we last got together.

The comps were great and the best of show was breath taking. spent too much as always ( Blame it on Pegaso) only thing we found was the price of the beer in the show £4.50 a pint. I know we are from Yorkshire and a bit careful with the money but that was outrageous.

Some of the traders that I know said they were down this year on last and that the cost of the table was too much and that they would have to rethink weather it was value for money to continue to do the show.

we will be back next year and i'm sure people will have mixed feelings about it but I for one enjoyed the whole thing.

I know this is the Planet but I wonder what planet some people are really on! I went to Euro (again) this year despite knowing I shouldnt go and have to say a big thanks to Brian, Del, and David Mitchell for their wonderful help through the whole weekend. Thanks Guys.
From our arrival on Friday afternoon till we left on Monday it was a blast! Got to meet old friends and even some new ones, catch up on events and just have fun, Oh yes I think there were figures there as well! Carl and Moz, quite a double act, if they cant make you laugh you have a problem. Couldnt stay in the hall as much as I wanted but I had a great bed nearby, what more could a guy want.
There were some wonderful figures and armour there on the comp. stands but sadly I could not see them all, but I believe there were around 1700 entries, not so bad for a show that once again is due to close some time soon, according to the Nay sayers! Numbers through the door may have been slightly down but you could not tell that when you joined the line for entry. I did notice one chap issueing and taking tickets when three would have been better.
Down and bust helping enter figures for my autistic mate Brian, his braille is awful but he gets by with his winning smile! Quick look round the competition room then up to see the traders. Creature of habit I helped Stu open his whisky ( for medicinal reasons you understand). visit to Stormtroopers, Mitches Models, Steve Kirtly and CGS, bags nearly full of goodies I had to go for a sleep. Managed back on Sunday afternoon for another adventure. It was great.
Can only assume those that say it will close or it was not as good as it was or the numbers were down, wernt there to make those judgements. It was wonderful!!
