Yep, I'm finding the same... clearly feathers aren't designed to curl over in the way we want :(

Give the spray a go and see what happens.

However, the feathercraft/millinery sites say they'll curl along their long axis, so I think they may well do the trick for Nap's Zulu :)

Interesting the way the feathers have formed ...dare I say the feathers might look better less ragged and with more body around the tricorne ? .........just my thought !

Zulu ...feathers .......an idea ....will see if there are any ostritch wandering around

Looking forward to seeing how Geoffs looks after hairspray

Happy benchtime

Thanks Guys, the water treatment and hair spray worked OK and the they are bent over a treat.

I know the feathers should be formed the other way but to do that you would need 1/9th scale feathers, I shall be adding more feather bits now I have seen how it it looks and I have a base to work from. This is the first time I have tried anything like this and if I knew anyone with white chickens I would try to get some very small feathers from them, the big Ost. feather I have is not really the way to go.

Cheers
Geoff

Any pics yet?

I think you'll find these are more fluffy chicken scale size:

Here they are in black and colour so you can get a better idea (Nap, pay attention for your Zulu):

I think the lower fluffy sections would do the trick?

No more pics yet as they look just the same with the hair spray on them as hair spray does change the look of what it's sprayed on just holds it in place, plus I have been doing other things since last posting. I shall probably do a bit more once I get off here today.

After looking at him again through fresh eyes, I have decided I am not happy with the way the feathers have worked out and have removed them,

If I can find some very much smaller one then I shall apply them so meanwhile he is featherless.

Hi mate

Could you not paint the section above your gold as feathers ?

Have a look at Bob Orrs link that fluffy stuff might be good

Deep breath and carry on with the torso

Happy benchtime

Could work as it seems flexible, but as with all of these, it's the scale that mucks things up.... you'd have to buy some and experiment with trimming it down (or get Mrs Orr to mail a sample  ).
