Better a woman with pneumonia than a man with a runny nose ...

Rest up and get fit soon.

Stay safe old mate, and take it easy

If you can't sit, learn to paint lying down. GWS

Dont know if its relevant but Ive just bought a kneeling chair to help my back. Ill let you know if it works.

Sorry to hear of your woes Nap. Get well soon.

Sorry to hear about the fall. Hope you are mending nicely - nothing a good pint won't help cure.

I am not too good in English so this is approximate translation:
"When I was a boy, I already knew how to determine who was a front-line soldier and who was a rat.
The first did not wear their awards. They drank in silence on May 8 and 9.
Rats went to schools with awards and talk about their exploits in the newspapers. Now you can rarely meet a real front-line soldier."

,Hi everyone

Bit of a update

Finally managed to get to the bench so after a long time and thoughts from Martin ( thank you ) I finished the slogans on the helmet ...quite pleased !!

Reference pics as below

I did my version with the "white" background not exactly both central which I like the look

You will see I added a star ...might highlight that a bit more

Still need to recheck , add the lifted clear edging ( thinking of finely cut sellotape ) weather helmet and paint straps etc

Happy benchtime

Thanks Martin

The lettering took a "while" and has now got a covering of sellotape weathered at edges and the helmet is now fitted in place on the head .....and I never broke the hanging straps !

.....just the fit of the hand to sort ! and then paint the newspaper details ....Daddy0 printed off copies like yours but I successfully failed to be able to fit to my satisfaction !

Love the hobby

STOP PRESS

I have carefully resculpted the hand and it fits ....ye hah ! ....waiting for putty to fully dry , recheck , resend if needed ...and paint it !

Happy days

Hi Guys

Guess who can't sleep so a couple of iffy pics where I am at the moment

Since taking these yesterday I have repainted the uniform to a hopefully slightly lighter contrast to the helmet

Pics shoukd show hanging straps , helmet details including red star ( might highlight this slightly !)

Pleased the hand has now been sorted to fit nicely and also painted/added download bits for the newspaper ...will look at that again once I can get to my bench .....bit early as my bench is in our bedroom !

Will post more pics but providing all goes well ...it's just the hands to paint

.....the next will have medals ...but only ribbons !

All comments welcome

The white collar was/is somekind of a fetish of the Soviet/Russian Army!

Once a week in peacetime (and if possible also in war!) The soldier had to pull the white fabric collar out of his gymnastics jacket and replace it with a new one ...

For this, the soldier received a clean white piece of cloth from his supply unit, which he then had to fold into a collar and sew into his uniform blouse himself!

There was no exception at the front either - as this picture of some machine guns shows ...:

According to the regulations, there should be a clean "collar" during the week, which of course was highly theoretical in the war and at the front!

This white collar was already in the tsarist army and also in the RKKA the object of hatred for all conscripts and the fétisch of all non-commissioned officers - and it was carefully checked!

And that has not changed to this day ...:

Extraordinary information!!!!One of the things I love about PF.
