Catching up with this. Top job on the flowers. I think you could add some more muted flesh tones on the face to age him up a bit (compare the pink flesh around the eyes to that pale yellow/grey flesh on the cheeks). A few paler washes could really make him pop.

Well the flesh is all finished on the head ...happy with result but looking at pictures ...there's a distinctive white collar lining showing ( which I believe is to stop the uniform from rubbing the neck ) which I've not added ...it will be !

Also realised I have to add the distinctive belt stitching as well

All part of the fun of this hobby

The white collar was/is somekind of a fetish of the Soviet/Russian Army!

Once a week in peacetime (and if possible also in war!) The soldier had to pull the white fabric collar out of his gymnastics jacket and replace it with a new one ...

For this, the soldier received a clean white piece of cloth from his supply unit, which he then had to fold into a collar and sew into his uniform blouse himself!

There was no exception at the front either - as this picture of some machine guns shows ...:

According to the regulations, there should be a clean "collar" during the week, which of course was highly theoretical in the war and at the front!

This white collar was already in the tsarist army and also in the RKKA the object of hatred for all conscripts and the fétisch of all non-commissioned officers - and it was carefully checked!

And that has not changed to this day ...:

Good luck with the jab, had mine done a few weeks back, no side effects at all, though i now have night vision like a have a pair of NVG on LOL :LOL::LOL::LOL:

All jabbed #1 ....can't see in dark yet but I do howl at the moon for some reason ...lol !

Anyway here's a couple of pics of the head as always seems to look better in reality ......after adding the eyebrows to our veteran ...the teeth are done as well ...might highlight them a bit ....not a good angle to see them in pics !

Will be adding the white collar lining ....carefully

Thanks for looking in

Happy benchtime

Are you going to use a water product for tears? The pink in the eyes is spot on.

Not thought about that ...the eye under the right hand wouldn't show it but the left would

Needs thinking about .......all advice welcome

PVA might be okay with a gloss varnish once dry ??

Nap

PS white inside part of collar in place and painted

Looking very good Nap along with the flowers as well..................Are you still able to listen to your wife talking to you as you're thinking about how you're making your next move...?

Wayne

I did it accidentally. I used a water resin to fill in an eye (already painted) to raise it up and give it gloss. It seeped out a little and made a very effective tear albeit on the wrong face. Id test it first though.
