Just a quick review of a few bits I got from G&G Miniatures from Italy, all in 54mm scale.

First up I got two sets of bare heads, one will replace the Historex head I'm currently using. The first set are European/Caucasian heads, they are nicely detailed with very little evidence if being 3D printed, just a very quick rub with a fibre glass pen sorts that out.

The second set are Sub Saharan African heads, equally well detailed. Both sets have a small neck attached though there is no detail such as Adams apple or tendons in evidence.

Lastly I got a pair of Chassepot French Rifles with bayonets. One of these and an African head are for a future project. The Rifles are very finely made and look almost fragile, unlike the same if it was traditionaly sculpted and cast in white metal. They come on the printing frame which is good for the postage process given their fragility. Also there are two sheathed bayonets, two bayonets and their empty sheaths.

All are very nice and at £8 per pack pretty good value, the heads are slightly smaller than a Historex head, but nominally 54mm Historex are closer to 60mm. They also look to be not much larger than a Hornet Head (1/35th) so should be good to replace the Historex head I was using.

The range is quite extensive covering anatomy, heads, hands and feet also articulated mannequins, accessories across several periods of history and nations and 4 different scales, 1/35th, 54mm, 75mm and i can't remember the last scale! Well worth a visit, at www.mondogad.it .

If I may advise Simon, don't use a scalpel to remove the pieces from the printing supports- you can end up breaking delicate parts like those bayonets .Fine snips are better

I shall have to try and remember that as a scalpel.is usually my tool of choice for most jobs, despite having half a dozen sets of snips for various things. Many thanks for that.

Thanks for the heads up Simon.
Interesting site, the fourth scale is 60mm.
I had a look because I only work in 90mm and was hoping they did that.
Alas no, but working in an unfashionable scale keeps my spending under control.

You are welcome, shame about the scales though, the other firm that does things like this is Figure in Italy, but they only go to 75mm I think. I understand what you mean about keeping the spending under control, when I painted flats I could go to most UK show and not spend anything on things to paint, certainly made shows more affordable!

I have a couple of their rifles in 75mm (1/24th), and I am quite pleased; I intend to order several of their accessory sets in the future. I look forward to your upcoming projects.

They are beautifully realised pieces, I can see myself using all sorts of bits and bobs from them, though I'll use the 60mm stuff with Historex in future.
Hi Simon

Thanks for a look at the latest additions, useful pieces for the conversions

Look forward to seeing what you do with them

Happy benchtime

No probs Kev, the website is a treasure trove for converters. I have down graded my next build from Historex size to the last few bits of multiple I have.

Hi,

I have several accessories from them and I only can say one thing....wish they had more.

Their items are top quality and the service is excellent.

And as a cherry on top of the cake....their exceptional good people.

Thank you G&G!

Indeed their stuff is brilliant, it's just me buying the wrong size, but they will be used and I'll be back for more without a doubt.

Maybe some bad news for you, I'd asked about 3 band Enfields in 120mm and they seemed happy to supply them, you could always ask?
All the best,
Scotty.

Thanks for the review, Simon! I've followed G&G since they first posted here on the Planet, and I follow them on Facebook, but I haven't ordered anything yet. They have some nice accessories and many of the figures I pick up are missing swords or sabers, muskets, carbines, etc, so I'll have to order some and give them a try.

Prost!

Happy to oblige Brad, I will certainly be back for more, correct size this time. The other supplier of such items is Scale Link in the UK, they come our somewhere between 1/35 & 1/32nd and use white metal, but it's Al WWI stuff. Also their website is a bit of a nightmare, they are primarily a model railway company but do have an extensive range. G&G are better I'd say.
