Darla and I will be arriving at the Airport Thursday at 7:09 PM. We'll be picking up a rental car and staying at Embassy Suites. We'll check for the informal get together once we check in.

You can add two to the headcount for Saturday's get together at Charlies. Since we will have a rental car we can transport others as well.

Great! Look forward to meeting y'all :)

Hello gang, sorry to add this so late. I spoke with Gordy a week or two ago and he agreed that this would be a great idea:

On the Saturday night after class, I will be opening my home to an informal gathering for all seminar attendees and their significant others for a meal and drinks. I have yet to come up with a menu, but I was thinking of preparing most of the food before hand, and perhaps throw some meat on the grill when everyone arrives (thinking about pork steaks, a St. Louis specialty). Any ideas or suggestions are welcome.

It might help to get a head count of those who know they will attend so that we can prepare enough refreshments, and of course anyone can bring anything to sweeten the pot :p

As for rides, I know that we will have at least 3 locals who can help shuttle people without wheels.

Charlie

Well, I'm really impressed with the local hospitality!:awesome::awesome::awesome:
Thank you very much for the invitation. It will surely be unforgetable, a story to tell in modellers gatherings:lol:

I first thought on bringing there one of these:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jam%C3%B3n_serrano
But it's ABSOLUTELY forbidden to bring it to the States:cautious::cautious::cautious:. You can purchase them there, but the price is simply absurd.
Instead of it, I'm thinking on some spanish recipe I can do there with local ingredients(y)

Charlie, as you are our host, I will check with you for avalaibility of ingredients as soon i have made my mind:whistle:

Thanks again!

Hmmmmmmmm, what about Sangria? You can find all of those ingriendients here :ROFLMAO:

Sure! But that's only a drink. I was planning also something to eat... Maybe a gazpacho, that is original Andalusian:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gazpacho
You can get easily the white vinegar on the States, isn't it?
Other idea is to cook some spanish tortilla (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_omelette), but I don't know if you can easily get olive oil. Average kitchen hardware include some pans (like these: http://www.walmart.com/browse/Kitch...=+428207&catNavId=133020&fromPageCatId=133020), isn't it? it must be nonstick and about that size and shape...
Also, I would need another one to fry to potatoes. Something like these:

The turned wooden figure bases look wonderful.

Couldn't agree more! What a wonderful effort by Steve to assist with the workshop even if he's not in attendance. Truly a standup guy. I know where I will order bases from once Iraq is complete (y). I just wish I was able to attend but.....such is life.

I noticed all the seats are sold out now Gordy. Who are all of the attendees?

Kinda funny when you consider just 6 weeks ago we were worrying if enough people would attend........

I sent you a PM with the guest list

Oh good they all have the cat. That cat is one of the best cat sculpts around. I have my cat from the kit I bought dedicated to another figure and have been wanting another.
