Since this I have reworked the face where the strap was fitting ...didn't like that !!! so I will have the strap hanging on each side

I have also textured the hair with JS texture putty.....I "was" thinking of building the head up and having him without the helmet ....still thinking !!!!!

Also added a medal(No 32) on the left of the bottom row next to No 11

Stay tuned this will be next after the Anzac Roo

Happy benchtime

I missed that this was now a commercial piece, I am going to have to add this to my GA. Smart of you to have added the crucifix, which is so prominent in the original photo.

Well done Nap, I have read through Martin's post and have learnt a lot.
Following your stab at these medals.

Just popped in to see how you're doing Nap. by, that is gonna be a lot of medals to paint, lol.

Hi Steve

Doing okay ...still good looking ...yes a lot of medals ..Martins found fine job and hard act to follow !

Be interesting to see the two approaches to this medal fest.....

Indeed Graham a medal fest ! currently on a hairy fest with the Anzac Roo !

By the end of all this it'll be like we know the old geezer personally. I'm tuned in!

Phil

How very true ....going to relook at the head need to do a little more putty work ......think Ibwill stay with helmet on !

Look forward to yours as well

It's a fascinating piece , as you see I've built mine up ..less hands ...the right should be interesting to fit .....might add a tear from the eye , as for crucifix ...l wanted it on and different from Martins version ibut boy was it a labour of love doing sculpting , waiting for each part to dry before more added ....hopefully painting will bring it out

Same with me ref Martins thread ...definately will be a stab from me

Thanks to all

Your pic shows the wrong colours, Kev!

These are right, red pipings!

Parade (black):

Field service:

Tankist symbol (brass colour!):

These tin things were different for the right and left shoulder!

The muzzle of the cannon was always directed forward!

Cheers

Hi Martin

Thanks for the details ...perhaps the one I put has faded with time .....must admit I do like the parade version ones ......they will add some colour interest to shoulders ! ...just need to add the tank(s) ...both barrels facing forward

Nap

Kev, May 9th is the major holiday for Great Patriotic War veterans!

Since you can easily mount the parade shoulder pieces on him.

Especially since the parade pogony were often worn to the field uniform in 1945...

This combination was even featured on an official Victory Day poster ...:

Cheers

Hi everyone

Early morning verbal update will do pics later

Uniform colour all finished , gone for a more green colour ..plenty of variations in actual uniforms as seen in Martins WIP

Epaulettes all sculpted with rank of Sgt Major of Armoured Troops ....yes the tank badges are in place , both facing forward !

Ribbons progressing okay ....eyes starting to feel like this after a session image.gif

Top row ribbons all done , I have chosen a different on for the first in 2nd row as I liked the flash of colour image.jpeg

Gradually working along the rows , I have also completed the ribbon on the cross

Once ribbons all done I will go and do the actual medals ...should look okay !

After all decoration it's the cross belt and waist , might add a few things ?

Then it's the face after checking the fit of the right hand ..list going to need a bit of rework I reckon to fit right !

Stay tuned

Happy benchtime

Thank you Martin

I will redo the ribbon at top

Appreciate your time ...just detailing the belt up a tad ! ...break from ribbons

Also extended the length of the cross as its longer than I did !

Happy benchtime
